"Black people can't be racist!"
I guess Penny completely forgot the lesson she learned in the "I Had a Dream" episode of the show's original run.

A black kid asked my dad for money because his ancestors were slaves of my dad.

We are Sri Lankan. We didn't even have slaves.

Black people absolutely can be racist. I was a white Chinese girl in an all black and Latina/latino school. My siblings were black. These 3 girls harassed me the whole year and spread a rumor that I hated my sister because she’s black, saying how I believe I’m above everyone else because I’m white, and kept saying things like I’m slow and stupid because I’m white and I also failed my race because I’m Chinese and bad at math (I’m dyslexic.) my stepmom gave me box braids one day and the girls pulled at them saying I was appropriating their culture. I cried and took my hair out which took my stepmom 4 hours to do and she got mad at me, but I never told her why I did it.

"Racism is prejudice plus power"

Umm...no? It's discrimination against someone for the color of their skin, no matter social, financial, or economic standing. Eugh. No wonder the reboot did so poorly. Some of the most racist people I've meet recently were black/indian (from India, not Native American).

Black person here. Some of the most racist people I've encountered were black. Obviously not the only ones or even Uncle Ruckus levels but it's definitely there. I can't believe they actually said this in the show, especially with the supposedly "woke" character.

The Proud Family literally stereotyped Aisans in the older show. They have worn (stereotype) regalia of a romanticized Powhatans child as a costume. They guilted Zoey because of her skin color, racism is racism.

Everyone can be racist, and people seem to think that black people can't be racist because they were once slaves. It's so pathetic. 💀

Maya is such a hypocrite
If she's fighting against racism than why is she agreeing with Penny's statement
And why would they have Penny say that?

Saying black people can’t be racist is like saying women can’t be sexist.

I'm black. There have been multiple occasions where I have witnessed my black friends go on Uncle Ruckus type stuff. 💀💀

Everyone can be racist and everyone can be a target for racism.

I hate the argument that racism is 'prejudice PLUS power'. If you look down on anyone for their race, no matter the situation, it's racism. That being said systemic racism is through prejudice and power. And that does have an effect but anyone, no matter who they are or the color of their skin, can say and do racist things and essentially, be racist. That argument is just a way to excuse being a racist jerk and get away with it.

"Black people can't be racist" is basically "I'm not racist I have black friends" for black people.

Racism is a human trait. Saying black people can’t be racist implies black people are not human beings… which is racist. When you start to really think about it, these people’s arguments become funnier
