I agree with sime of the comments on here. I havent tried the new TAG3c but love the new features. But I feel like it is more inline with FG-TA than the LL-TA regards specs. The LL-TA with its aged top and chamfered bindling on the neck, maple binding on the body, looks plays and sounds fantastic. I'd love to have the LL spec with the 2nd Gen TA hardware. Plus The only other thing I would change on my LL-TA is to have a cutaway.

In my opinion, Idk if ANY guitar can surpass or even equal the pure acoustic sound of my LL-TA! It is a simply stunning sounding instrument. It has such rich overtones and beautiful sustain. The sound has almost piano like qualities to it.
From the samples I've heard online so far, the TAG3 has a more "martin-esque" sound profile like the FG3 or 5. Not that its a bad thing. That has its place in the world of acoustics. But the world is littered with guitars like that. The LL series have a sound like no other, particularly if you find one of the "miracle" guitars (if you understand my meaning. Most quality models/builds of guitar have the "duds" that fall short of the expectations and just dont live up to thier heritage. But there are also those rare pieces that somehow turned out far better than their siblings of the same model. Either by accident or fluke, were somehow made with exceptionally good cuts of tone wood and better than usual construction...and the stars just aligned to make a really special guitar that stands above the rest lol).
I play mine with the TA system off more often than it's on. It's sound incredible even without the FX.
But I won't lie, the additional FX, and more importantly the onboard looper and Bluetooth functionality is very appealing. I do want one, but I'll have to wait untill the second hand market makes them more affordable. I think it's amazing, but it's hard to justify spending that much for guitar that is essentially is a downgrade from the LL or LS TA's. Your paying a lot for that new electronics suite, because I get the impression that if yamaha built and sold the TAG3 as just the G3 (guitar only)
...it probably wouldn't cost more than US $6 or $700 hundred dollars. I wish the new TA system was available as a option to buy and install on any guitar. Or at least any Yamaha. You could send it to the factory to he installed.
I think I will own one someday when the price makes more sense. Probably a second hand one. But I will NEVER part with my LL-TA, even if the TA system eventually failed on it. I've owned many guitars during the 30 years I've been playing. A LOT of budget and intermediate level guitars, and a large handfull of very nice and expensive guitars. Many have come and gone in that time (both acoustic and electric), and my LL is the very FIRST guitar I have ever said that about. It will be with me till the end, no matter what pricy "top-tier" or butuique level guitars I might find myself owning. The LL will stay.
Idk...what do you guys think?

They sound great! I have an AC3M and really enjoy it. Just wish the electronics didn’t have any hiss sounds. Will definitely take a look at the newer transacoustics!

Excellent idea for a video, and very nicely summarized. I have the Yamaha Transacoustic FG-TA, which is a brilliant guitar!!! I use it for all my solo live shows, rather than my vintage Martin D-35, my Lowden jumbo and many others. Why? Despite having non-solid back and sides, it sounds very rich and balanced (not as loud or full of harmonics as an all-solid, guitar, but beautiful in and of its own), and despite a bit of hiss in the plugged-in sound, it works very, very well for live use, with plenty of clarity and balance and punch and without any tendency to feed back in the lows (which plagues many an all-solid model). I love it so much that I will definitely get the TAG3 as soon as it becomes available here in Germany. In fact, the TAG3 has nearly identical the specs (scale length, neck) as the FG-TA, whilst I believe the LL-TA does not (but I‘ll check that).

The idea of looper is compelling reason to buy. So many possibilities.

The build quality of the older LLTA is higher than the TAG3, it had ARE treated Englemann Spruce, and Rosewood back and sides. So while the TAG3 has 2nd gen effects, as just a strait guitar without built in effects the LLTA is a higher quality guitar. Correct me if I’m mistaken.

How would you say the guitar unamplified sounds, by itself? It seems like they would maybe build the guitar more rigid to prevent over-resonance/feedback, does it seem to be less resonant than may be desired (when effects not engaged)

I really like the guitar, it’s sounds beautiful. But I do have two main concerns. How will it do live playing plugged into the pa at a fairly loud volume, in other words does it feedback easily? And is the battery replaceable? Can it be accessed by the customer or would you have to hire a shop to change it, and does Yamaha sell replacement batteries? I mean every battery goes dead eventually! Thanks bro! Great review!

What’s the warranty on the electronics is my big question. Probably expensive to fix on both, pedals are cheaper, I’m a poor musician.

Sorry but I have a beautiful Harley Benton acoustic for 300, equipped with Fishman Rare Earth blend technology for 200, the total is 3 times cheaper than the Yamaha, and the sound is better.

The new UA delay/reverb/mod pedal for just 250 does all the effects for me, no need for anything else.

At exactly 1/2 of the price of the overpriced Japanese, I am more than happy with it, sound is darker and more rounded and beauriful than this.

Cheers 😂❤😮❤
