I wish Yamaha would consider lefties a bit more. Yamaha will not make left handed - trans acoustics - TAG3 or the A series, they only make available a Left-handed version of the FG800

What happens when the battery dies? I mean, * really * dies, not just discharged. How long does it last and how can I replace it?

This guitar knocks it out of the proverbial park! I say that as a very happy owner of the FG-TA, which has become not only my main sofa-playing and practicing guitar, but also my main gigging guitar (over my vintage Martin D-35 and several others). Why? Tonal balance suited for all styles of music, great playability/feel and the built in chorus and reverb, which sometimes come in handy (when I want to play with no pedalboard). So I am most likely going to buy the new TAG-3 as a huge upgrade. But one big question I have (not necessarily a deal breaker if you say „no“) is whether the line out can somehow be split with the effect signal going to the mixer and the dry signal going elsewhere? This would be soooo sweet for those of us who also sing, and need a „naked“ guitar signal to input into a vocal harmony pedal for auto-generating the correct harmonies. Maybe some kind of stereo/splitter cable?

Ok I really wanted this guitar. I pre-ordered it from Sweetwater. But I have come to find out from Yamaha Support that they will not sell replacement battery for this guitar, and also they said the customer will not be able to replace the battery when it eventually goes dead. That I would have to ship the guitar to one of their service locations to get a new battery put in. Here is what they sent me.

We don't have a plan to sell the battery separately.
Authorized Yamaha service centers will handle this battery replacement.

Q: Will you be selling a replacement battery:

A: No.

Q: Is there access to the battery for changing it by the customer

A: No.

As much as I like this guitar and want to buy it, I will be canceling my order at Sweetwater. There is no way the battery will not eventually go dead.and it will cost hundreds to ship the guitar to and from one of their service centers! Not to mention what they will charge for the battery and the installation. Sorry this is a deal breaker for me. And frankly, not selling a replacement battery and having it in the guitar where the customer can change it is ridiculous! Canceling my order!
