Even the gov't admits the man is "innocent."

If the man's not guilty of a crime and SCOTUS keeps him in prison, we should stop calling the judges Justices.

There was a prison that couldn't let convicts out on their release date because their software was broken. They kept "free" people in prison for MONTHS passed their release until a federal judge stepped in. Turned out it was a for profit prison and their software was likely broken on purpose. Putting people in jail should never be profitable.

"We can't clog up the court system with releasing innocents."

Any judge who rules to let an innocent person remain in prison on a technicality, ought to be stripped of their law license and thrown in some kind of cage themselves! 😳

It's amazing how little our Justice system cares about justice.

Once again proving it is a LEGAL system, not a JUSTICE system.

Well, yeah. The same court upheld asset forfeiture, and they are too busy to dispense justice. What a disgrace

If a court ruled that the conviction was improper, he should be out of jail. I hate seeing a court rule that procedure is so important that people wrongly convicted should be kept in jail.

I listened to a story about a man trapped in prison. They had proven that he didn't commit the murder, but wouldn't release him. They required proof that someone else had. Finally 4 years later, they convicted another man and he was released. Spent 15 years in prison.
The person who fought for his release, was the murdered girl's mother. She had reviewed the documents after his conviction (looking for his accomplices) and realized he was innocent.

This is why i refuse to call judges "your honor". There is no honor in this broken system.

This is absurd! It makes our legal system seems like more about technicality and "reasonable doubt" than truth and justice. Not letting an innocent person out of prison simply because it MIGHT burden the court system is RIDICULOUS!

My blood pressure is going up just trying to IMAGINE being stuck in prison while innocent because the government feels that releasing me would be "inconvenient" for them.

Better 100 guilty men go free, than one innocent man be incarcerated. When did we lose sight?

"...this isn't a game where the rules are more important than the participants. " Steve, you always get to the heart of a matter. Love your work.

If the Supreme Court won't free a man deemed innocent, maybe We The People should do something about that? How do we remove lifetime appointed judges?

Any judge that thinks innocent men should stay in jail, should get kicked off the bench

How disgusting. It is grotesque to leave someone in jail over their inability to hear cases quickly. Maybe we need mandatory 12 hour days for judges instead of having them work 3 hour days. Justice Alito clearly has lost his humanity if he rules that way.

"Are you concerned that letting innocent people go may clog up the justice system?" "No, your honor, it doesn't concern me at all that you might actually have to DO the job you get paid for."

The mere question by Alito shows how far SCOTUS has fallen. Sacrificing one man to preserve the “system” is exactly what due process is meant to avoid.
There is no longer honor among the justices.
