Great video. I bought one of these as my first planted tank, and this video was exactly what I needed. Great video and great camerawork as well!

I have two of these set up… went back to get a few more and they are all sold out. Fingers crossed they get some more in…. Great little fun tanks and what you get for the price is awesome! -tip, be careful when putting light attachments, they can mess up background… either cut away space for them or use a piece of felt laid over and then pull it out.

I watched other videos first and set up my tank ( same one) and wish I found your video first. I did follow Father Fish's substrate with 1" soil and 2" sand . I like your substate as well. I was not informed about cleaning plants from the gell. I sure hope my Utricularia graminifolia grows well even though I did not rinse him...what do you think ???, should I take it out and clean it and then put it back ?? I rinsed the 2" of sand that I put over my compost soil to cap it ( keep it safe) I then placed plants in and used some of the little stone substrate provided after rinsing it well as it was very cloudy . Did you add more stuff in the filter ? Is the filter weak like mine and only barely making the top surface of the water move??, making me wonder if it is good enough ?? Nice video .

Nice, I think I might get one and stock it with cherry shrimp soon

Great video but has the tank been cycled or are you doing a fish-in cycle?

Also, I would suggest a plant with big leaves so he can rest either on top or underneath out of the light.

Maybe add a hollow ornament he can swim in. Imagine being under that bright light all day and nowhere to go to have a break.

I know this video is almost a year old, but did you have any issues with water evaporation because of the lead? Or residue left on the top?

You know there's a reason it's called shrimp and plant oasis right... Your not supposed to put a betta in their.

I would recommend upgrading to a 5 gallon. Just because Bettas to best in 5 or higher. But at least you have live plants and no other fish in there. So if you want you can keep it in a 3, but a 5 would be nicer for the fish

I bought this same tank and now I am trying to figure out how to maintain the tank (clean the gravel, change the water, etc). I am thinking of putting a betta and a couple of shrimp in but how do you cycle the tank?

No tank cycling or fish acclimation? Declorinator? Beneficial bacteria or filter media? Video title says "shrimp" tank. Tank is named for shrimp and plants. Viewers, please do your research prior to purchasing any fish. Tip - Put the background film on right after cleaning, before scaping. Hope you think it through better than he did.

Great video but I don’t recommend you putting a betta in a 3 gallon personally I wouldn’t even put one in a 5 gallon but definitely a cool shrimp tank
