Welcome to this tutorial video on the warping and cupping of wood. Warping and cupping are two of the most common issues that woodworkers have to deal with. Warping is when the wood bends or twists while cupping is when it curves in one direction. The good news is that these issues can be dealt with – with the right tools and techniques.
In this video, we’ll show you how to identify the cause of warping and cupping, and then how to address them. We’ll start with the basics – why wood warps and cups in the first place. We’ll then cover the different techniques you can use to correct warping and cupping,

Hi Alex. This question is not related to this subject but wondered if you would advise if when using chalk paint to finish a carving you seal it first or dilute the paint. Do you use one or more coats and is there any special brand of chalk paint you favour? Thanks very much for any comments.

Master: The Maine piece has a very strong layer cake look FROM the side. Are you planning a way to carry the eye across both layers? I'm probably thinking way too far ahead. Maybe all of us in the school could take a trip to England and see in person that which we are attempting. Along with you of course.
Great video and explanations.

If we have a project that has warped, is it salvageable?
