As a new player from 3 months ago, I can relate to this. When I first started, I was indeed bombarded with all kinds of new information, mechanics to understand, a huge map to explore and the lore.

One could say it was a bit tedious and overwhelming at the start ( especially those world quests ), but my love for the game and its ability to immerse me in its world made that "tedious" feeling go away.

I'm caught up. I took a 2 year break. Came back in 3.6.

An now I'm 💯 percent explored, everywhere.

Still got fishing to do though. Heard that takes along time..

Honestly, i can't care less about the characters. Story, regions and quests is what making a game for me.

New player here, started on 3.7 Kazuha banner, At first it's really overwhelming tbh. So many things to do to catch up. In fact i just barely managed to 100% everything up to sumeru last week.

Based on my own experience, I kinda love/hate the exploration to be honest. The pros is the amount of primo you can get from exploration is extremely HUGE. I have gotten around 420+ pulls just from exploration+ main/sidequests, which got me Kazuha, Kokomi, and Yelan+Aqua Simulacra as a bonus with 100+ pulls saving left. On the other hand, It's so tedious and exhausting, that i decided to give myself a one week break before exploring fontaine (already cleared the event). My most hated part of the whole experience is the absolutely mind numbing amount of dialogues i have to get through over and over and over again on the sidequest/sidestory/or whatever you want to call it.

Hoyoverse if you're reading this, for the anniversary I don't want anything just please, PLEASE give us a skip function

I'm a few months new and feel like I've already completed a lot of the more interesting content: all archon quests, most story quests, a lot of exploration (maybe 60% Summer and 40% Liyue exploration left. I've only got three 5-stars and want 2 more. I've got almost all the 4 stars. Decent levels on most. I've almost cleared floor 12 (not 36 stars). I feel like I'm running out of content besides farming artifacts. I'm getting wishes way faster than expected for my first gatcha game and I don't need too many more. I wish I could go back and play the old events, hear their voice acted stories, see their mechanics, and get at least some of their rewards. I fear that I may get bored and move on before I get a chance to pull on Raiden. Many new characters seem too niche and complicated... Though dendro reactions seem more fun and easy to build than Atk+Crit.

Then why play an RPG though? Genshin is not just a gacha it's also an RPG and this game was built around the lore and the story so to play the game and ignore these facets is ignoring more than half the game. If you only view it as a gacha game then you are at fault when you don't enjoy it imho. I don't replay but as a new player I enjoyed it honestly. I don't even replay offline games unless i feel like i really really want to. Tower of fantasy tried to rush me to the new area as a new player and it actually pissed me off a bit but I found my way back to the previous content and enjoyed it at my own pace. Genshin needs to embrace the co op aspects stop making it single player for goodness sake it mandates us to use the internet to play and offers no offline play mode so stop single player nonsense many of us actually liked the co op events more than single player. If they actually invested in the co op without making it competitive the game could be so much better.

I started playing in the wanderer banner and honestly liyue was so slow I almost stopped playing, but I powered through to inazuma and the game started to pick up. After that it was like a race to fontaine. I got to Sumeru and went straight to Fontaine. After exploring a little bit I was like, you know what it’s not going anywhere I’ll complete sumeru and come back when I’m ready and it was so worth it I really enjoyed sumeru and was still hype for the new archon quest in fontaine.

My problem. It takes to long to level characters. As the roster increases its getting annoying.... I have all characters since 3.3 and I'm just ... exhausted. And I ONLY PLAY 20 minutes and I'm exhausted

First of another nice content! Many players who don't focus on main nor side quest is waiting on more buffed good version of Genshin Impact in 3, 4 years as you say haha. I can tell you love the game from your lots of efforts and care into this, which is pretty cool! Great analysis of the general direction of the game too haha

Side quests and reading the dialogue is one of the most immersive experiences in Genshin impact. I must be the silent minority but I’m also a meta slave too. Can be both a lore master and a meta slave :D!

New player here. I got a backbone for my iPhone and I was looking for new games and came across Genshin. Absolutely loving it but it’s definitely overwhelming. Thank goodness for YouTube helping me get through the tough spots of the game lol.

Stopped playing on the first Anniversary. Came back with a new account and have been enjoying the game a lot more.
Mostly because I enjoy the exploration still, so just getting others to play that for me seems weird.
Doesn't hurt that the game essentially has given me a somewhat scuffed version of National with Lynette and I pretty much can run a hyperbloom team with Collei and Traveller.
It isn't game breaking, but already feels a lot nicer than my old account TBH.

Hey man loving the work you've done to get your temporary setup nearly in line as your old one. It sounds really good!

I've played since 3.7. Feel really lucky to have started saving primos early and buying the welkin since day 10 of playing. So far I've spent about 15 dollars in the game and feel blessed to have both kazuha and yelan right now. I don't really feel the same exciment as old players over new characters since, as a new player, all characters are new to me. I have a few long term goals, such as getting raiden, ayaka and shenhe, then nahida and raiden constellations (in that order xd). You are absolutely on the money when you talk about me wanting those old characters. I just got xinqu off the starglitter shop and will be risking some primos on any banner he shows up and xianling avoided me completely on the kazuha banner. Already done with the archon quest, this game feels like a nice book, meant to be enjoyed slowly.

Hoyoverse should make all Open World Chest part of Daily Commissions and Reputations these make the Chest Hunting and Exploration seamless and at the same time, in this sense u 100%ing the area exploration. After all the chests are unlocked, they make all the usual Daily Commissions as it is.

What makes us Burntout is we need to spend time for chest hunting and exploration.

It depends what you mean by catching up. Many of the events Albedos story quest in Dragon Spine was an exclusive event and it has not returned since that day. This means that Hoyo is using FOMO for storytelling which is in itself a problem for a game like this. Many lore creators have pointed this out, the game itself doesn't bother to explain the laws of the universe either. You think you are not interested by the lore because it is simply overwhelming. The reality is that stuff is just as good as an anime show. It reminds me of Dark Souls story telling, many people play that game and have no idea what happened.

What’s the point of the game if you pay someone to play it for you? I started in 1.1 and that amazing first experience is what has hooked me on the game for the past 3 years. Sure the game gets stale sometimes but there is always something keeping me hooked.
