Here is an awesome man teaching us how to use different overdrives. I like seeing pedalboard videos from players like Shawn!! Let's all give a thumbs up everybody

XTS built me a board centered around the HX effects. all my analog drives are in the loops of the hx and the hx provides the switching and the effects. To avoid volume pedal issues i just use a mission expression pedal to control the volume inside the hx. Works great! Hope you have fun putting everything together!

I am just a playing at home guy but I love getting a look into a true professionals set up. Thanks Shawn

Love hearing the strategy behind your choices and your pointing out the subtle differences, like between the dude and the GTO. so fun.

Dude you need to check out the Lehle volume pedal. I used to use EB volume pedals and they never lasted more than a year, either the cord or pot or something went bust. I switched to Lehle a few years ago when they came out and I couldn't be happier. No pots or cords to wear out, no lost high end and you can use it as a line driver with the 10db gain pot. You wont regret buying one!

No no no no Shawn, you're supposed to tell ME what to put on MY board! Love you man, not sure why you don't have 10x the subscribers that you already have. We all like to get advice and watch a REAL PRO like you!

For high gain, I love both the Friedman BE-OD and the Dirty Shirley pedals.

Hey Shawn! I’m just a couch musician who’s been on hiatus for a few too many years lol Definitely interested in pedalboard videos right now. I enjoy all your videos and this one was right up my alley 👍👍

Try out the JHS @+ Andy Timmons sig for high gain. It's really awesome (or the Angry Charlie if you want a little different EQ flexibility). Definitely love watching vids on pro boards, I'm in constant flux on both my large switching system board and on my small grab and go.

Finally upgraded from my beloved M9 to HX FX after 13+ yrs. So glad I did. I think you're really going to love it Shawn. Your brief run-through of the M9 was super helpful to me. I'd really love to see you do the same and hear your thoughts once you add the HX. To my ears, even the legacy FX sound *much better. I'm using the Dunlop mini vol. purely to save space and its been great. First heard of the Chime from you and love that pedal as well. Always appreciate your insights Shawn! Cheers and Happy Holidaze!

Shawn I have Cali 76 deluxe on my board, been through many compression pedals, done looking, absolutely the best.

People will disagree, especially when throwing this in with higher-end pedals, but I think the Rat is a great high gain pedal when dialed in correctly. I stack mine with a Tumnus behind it and it sounds great. I also use a .45 for everything in between.

Another pedal to note.. the Greer Lightspeed. I've been playing around with it for the past couple of days and am torn between that and the Tumnus. They both sound amazing, but are different beasts on the EQ spectrum. Overall I think the Tumnus stacks better with other pedals, but the Lightspeed just has that nice amp-like breakup that sounds/feels amazing.

This is really useful, thanks Shawn. I’m redoing my board and I’ve been undecided about having my comp first (as I usually do) to putting it after my overdrive as suggested by many, and then there’s the issue of where the sfuzz goes. At the moment I’ve got Comp > tuner > Crybaby>SD1>MojoMojo>BMF Sisyphuzz > Flashbak mini > Marshall Reverb. The fuzz sounds fantastic on its own but I get a huge mid-hump (not a pleasing one) when I stack it with the SD1. It’s good fun experimenting though.

The thing I love about pedals (started buying them in the 70’s) is that your mood and likes change now and again and it’s fun to switch the pedal board around. It’s funny what some of the pedals I bought in the 70s go for these days 🙄. Main thing- ENJOY !!

Great video as usual Shawn!! Check out the Barber electronics Direct Drive for higher gain stuff. Really rich harmonic overtones. I'll send you a shot of my board, I currently have an old Budda wah, eb vpjr, tumnus (always on depending on amp), Dunlop Hendrix octivo, Direct Drive, Dude, archer, (all drives are running into the loop of HX effects for different placement of modulations)

I might be too late but I really like your videos. The new Xotic volume pedals are very aesthetically pleasing and work very well. Built like a rock.
