I wonder how many engineers making six figures today are grateful for the helpful videos PatrickJMT have posted over the years.

i like those tips on remembering this. the calculus isn't really an issue trig can get messy though

I struggled my first month of calculus but once i stopped overthinking it and just realized that I’m making it harder on myself it became easier for me

Thank you for your generosity in explaining the lessons I have benefited a lot from you at the university

I have found an easier way to memorize trig derivatives. You don't have to memorize all that. Just write 2 rows; in the first row write
1/cos 1/cos sin/cos. That gives you the derivatives for all your functions with cos on the bottom. For example, sec=sec*tan or tan=sec^2 Then on the next row you write 1/sin -1/sin cos /sin now you have the derivatives for csc and cot; csc'= -csc*cot and cot = -csc^2 then just remember cos -sin. It is easier for me to remember a table like that vs trying to remember each derivative.

Item A can also be equal to sin 2x (Double-Angle Identity)

For problem c, did you use product, chain rule, and/or combination of the there two?

With question (c), if I saw that in a test I would instantly try and use quotient rule. Could you do it that way as well? Or doesn't it work in this case? The way Patrick does it is obviously quicker and easier.

Hey, at (c) why didn't we find the derivative of √2/3 like it's zero, so why we don't just kept the answer as secx.tanx??

Are these useful in machine learning? My business calc class bypassed trig derivatives/integrals; trying to teach myself - just in case it's necessary down the road.

Thanks for the vids! Do you still update your playlists on YT with the new vids?

Omg, I just found out that you are left handed.

isnt the derivative of root2/3 = 0? dont we have to find the derivative of that number alone too?

darrencheng

why were the constants left alone? don't we need to find their derivatives too?
