A Brief History of Tomorrow with bestselling author Yuval Harari. What is the next stage of human evolution? How will we protect this fragile planet and humankind itself from our own destructive powers?
We are delighted to be welcoming Yuval Noah Harari - bestselling author of Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind – for his second much-anticipated RSA appearance. Where Sapiens was a wide-ranging exploration of humankind’s history, in his new work Homo Deus he envisions our future: a not-too-distant world in which we face a new set of challenges and possibilities.
With his trademark blend of science, history, philosophy and every discipline in between, Harari will investigate the projects, dreams and nightmares that will shape the twenty-first century – from overcoming death to creating artificial life.

Fascinating subject. Suddenly I feel hopeful! For sometime now my mantra has been to “know thyself”. That’s a lifelong challenge! However I see that idea or more importance now. Much more....thank you for the lecture

I concur with the notion of the unpredictability of what teach children today to help them with their careers in the future...

If we are all out of poverty then we can make better ecological desisions I don't want any fellow human to breath in harsh chemicals neither does the planet. This is the vital thing literally for our vitality.

Just let me get this straight, this fine gentleman Yuval Harari is an expert on economics, programming, machine learning and computer algorithms, AI, ecology, politics, history, anthropology, sociology and psychology, hydro-meteorology and climate change, genetics and medicine, biotechnology, statistics and philosophy? Did I miss any of his other expertises? It seems like the world is becoming filled with such all-knowing and omnipotent experts.

La realidad no es equitativa, es gratuita. La "equidad" es cuestión de negocios y la verdadera libertad es liberarse de los negocios.

build a parallel society that is the one we all want thereby making their model obsolete and people will naturally gravitate toward a freedom and prosperity and abandon exploitation and false scarcity corruption makes for a depressing life ...people will choose honesty and positive love

Money is the reason and will be the reason behind all the inequality that we are facing or will face in the near future

I am reminded of the novel, Brave New World by Aldo’s Huxley, that I read in the fifties of last century. Will the 21st Century divide Mankind into Alfa, Beta, Gamma, and Delta classes in future? I was shaken up so much so that cursed the famous novelist as a doomsayer. But later I understood the purport of the novel as a satire against Communism that was putting the world into a corner. Is the present speaker trying to put such a threatening idea against an algorithmic civilisation?

On short term useless ones will likely could end up being wiped out. On mid term could be viewed as cannon fodder or goods (spare parts). On long term could be viewed as a way of preserving genetic diversity and in the meantime may be used as parts of different social experiments.

Universal basic income was tried in the 70's in Canada. I think 2 towns in Manitoba. The study was stopped when there was a change of government and the data was re-discovered many laters and they found it did not turn people into lazy collectors of the income. It needs more study. What is the alternative some sort of depopulation?

How valid are the (future) predictions of a historian.

What we can talk about with some certainty is history but not the future. More often than not there is one history but many futures...
