This was a fascinating discussion Eston, I am certainly going to look for this book at the library.  History may have begun with the invention of writing, but as you said civilization had to have begun with story telling.  I believe that the scientific revolution was one of the great turning points in history, and I firmly think that science will either be our savior or destroyer.  Thanks so much for this chat Eston, have a great weekend.

Really enjoyed this chat! I do want to get to the book sometime. I'm interested in what you said about storytelling and humans creating fictions. Does the author talk about metaphor in that discussion? I would've guessed that might precede story.

Interesting discussion. I have hesitated picking up the book, as I wasn’t sure where the author was going to go. Might have to give it a go sometime.

I seem to be one of the few who disliked this book based on that I found him being a very biased historian throughout the book, and that bias decreased the value of everything written.
