In New York State. The legal age to work is fourteen. When we turn fourteen, they don't hire us. When we turn sixteen, they don't hire us. When we turn eighteen, they don't hire us. Once they hire that you are still in school, the bosses don't hire us.

I worked as an umpire and it was alright but just know you have to be vocal, focused, and expect ppl to complain sometimes. The big problem I had with umping was it was a $50 payment for 1 game apart from Saturdays (bc u can get a double header) and what would happen is I would only get $50 in a day bc I would only get scheduled 1 game max a day so when I got really dirty and shit it didn't feel worth it

As a baseball umpire i make about 18 cad per hour umping 11u, if you ump 11u alone you can make about 33 cad an hour
