World reacts to death of Queen Elizabeth II

The world paused Thursday to mourn the monumental loss of Queen Elizabeth II. Natalie Brand reports for CBS2.

As a US citizen I remember how she ordered the Palace guard to play the US national anthem for the Americans stranded due to the halting of all air traffic after 9/11. A beautiful gesture and a wonderful woman to represent the people of the UK. May God receive and save her soul in Heaven.

She wasn’t just a Queen but a fighter as well. I still remember learning about her enlistment in WW2….she was interested in ww2 victims who have lost their home. She was also the first Queen to do full time enlistment in the military.

A true Royal heart that represented Britains past cultural history.

Let's not forget that the world, and our cousins in the UK, have lost a Lioness. While her teenaged Royal peers hid in bunkers, she raised her hand and volunteered to wear the uniform of her nation's warrior poets. She had steel in her spine, and she will be mourned and remembered.

I was born 3 weeks after her coronation on June 2nd 1953 as Queen of our country so I consider myself one of the first of that brand new Elizabethan age . She was the only Queen I ever knew and she was absolutely impeccable.

As a Canadian, and the Passenger Services Director for Cunard for 2 years (on loan from Princess Cruises) I was profoundly proud and honoured to serve on the Queen Mary 2. The Queen and the Monarchy are a rallying point for all things British. The Queen was the head of state and her passing and influence on the world was unmatched. It was my great fortune to have her as my Queen and to serve on a ship and for a company that preserves the great heritage and reverence of what is the British Commonwealth. God Save the King!

I was at school when I found out what happened I was shocked and couldn’t believe it. Then the next class I went to was history. I told my history teacher and she couldn’t believe it. I think my whole school was shocked of the news especially the teachers. RIP Queen Elizabeth 1926-2022
