One late evening, 1994, after arriving at the Oberoi in Marine Lines from New Delhi, I was exhausted and hungry. Instead of ordering room service, I decided to visit the 24x7 pastry shop in the hotel. The place was bustling with patrons, and I found a quiet corner table to enjoy a pastry.

As I savored my food, a gentleman approached and asked if he could join me. Without looking up, I welcomed him to sit down. It wasn’t until I got up to leave that I realized I had been sharing a table with none other than Ratan Tata. Rather than making a fuss, I simply wished him good night, and he returned the sentiment with a kind "good night" of his own.

This brief encounter left a lasting impression on me, highlighting the simplicity and humility that great leaders often embody.
