Whirlpool washer just stops in the middle of a load - Quick Fix $Save$

This is a quick fix for a minor problem that had been driving my wife crazy for a week till I could get around figuring out what was wrong and fix it. If your Whirlpool washing machine shuts off anywhere during the cycle the lid switch could be the problem. But the switch may not even be bad either and this doesn't require taking anything apart. I'm not a mechanical at all, and because of this flaw it can be very discouraging when something like this happens . But your video, was God sent and the moment after watching it . I went and followed your instructions and found that it works . Scaling had developed under the lid, and it was blocking the sensor and not allowing it to run properly. I took a small pear knife, and scraped around the lid where the sensor is. And it just kicked on, it was the scaling that was blocking the functions of the lid . Thank you so much . My issue wasn't actually the loose screws but a build up of fabric softener gunk in the little space under the lid right next to the screws. I used the screwdriver while I held the lid halfway open and cleaned out the waxy buildup. I clean my washer regularly but never saw what was in that little space because cleaned it with the lid fully opened and fully closed. But your tip helped me figure this out and I already had the screwdriver handy 😄
