In this video, Tim Warner covers eReader fundamentals. There are questions to be asked and variables you should consider before committing to an eReader. Get a sense of the strengths of the different models you can pick up for your eReading habit.

Even if you're a dead-tree book lover, you can't deny that there is a profound convenience in being able to condense, weightlessly, an entire library of information onto one device.

So if you're in the market for an eReader, or know someone who is, you should know the variables and differences between them. By definition, an eBook reader is "a mobile electronic device that's designed primarily for reading digital eBooks and periodicals."

That definition precludes tablets, slates, or convertible PCs. It also rules out multimedia tablets or smartphones.

For purposes of covering their pros and cons, Tim covers dedicated eReader devices.

Many of the differences in eReader devices can have subsequent complications. Color, for instance, might be appealing, but having color usually requires a backlight, which can cause eye strain over long periods of time.

Get a sense of all the factors to consider and where the major manufacturers land in the race.
