Similar to writing out the lyrics for the song, I find that typing up the slides from memory instead of just importing them from CCLI helps me to memorize the lyrics too.

Summary:
1. Read the lyrics on paper to use three senses
2. Reflect on the lyrics (why motivated to learn song)
3. Write the lyrics from recalling
4. Run the song with someone (practice with them)
5. Record the song audio with or without cheat sheet and examine your confidence
6. Rehearse on location and play set as if you're on Sunday (some parts of church can help recall)
7. Repetition (listen to the songs over and over plus the above steps)
To review if your memorized a song, try again after 1h, 1d and 1m.

I lead worship and I struggle with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Lyrics have always been a huge struggle for me! For some reason I can play at home and forget many of the lyrics I’m singing. When I play in front of a congregation I am so much better and very rarely make a mistake and normally it is not even noticed. I am completely frustrated about my playing at home. I have never written out lyrics by memory. I’m going to try that. Thanks!
