People wondering how Prime 4 is running as well as it is don't seem to remember that Retro has had a near perfect record when it comes to framerate. Plus, there is also a chance that load times could be a problem.

Retro Studios really knows how to work with the Switch hardware.

11:05 My assumption was that the pipe that rolled down in front of samus was actually what hit and crushed the space pirate, which is why its almost dead

i've seem a lot of people in analysis videos call the Metroid timeline a mess when talking about the 20X9 date, but it should be noted that the Metroid timeline is genuinely one of the most solid compared to some other nintendo games.
Metroid's timeline, in terms of the exact order the games take place in, was always very well defined and clear without needing out of game info like a book to clarify things, with the games themselves stating the order they take place in.

Metroid/zero mission is the start, Prime establishes on the frigate orpheon its after the first game and the other 2 parts of the trilogy aren't too long after, Federation force directly says its after Prime 3, Metroid 2/Samus Returns is clearly after the first game but the prime games have to come before it since metroids arn't thought to be extinct yet in those games. Super Metroid is almost right after Metroid 2, then Other M opens not long after Super, and though fusion is a more unclear amount of time later its definitely after both Super Metroid and Other M, then Dread is clearly after Fusion with enough time having passed for her suit to be slowly returning to something closer to its normal appearance.
the main point of ambiguity is the amount of time between some events, but the actual order of events is pretty clearly established, with the slight exception of Metroid Prime: Hunters, which if i remember correctly is after prime 1 and before prime 3, but unclear if before or after Prime 2 (its been too long so I don't remember what the evidence is of its placement in the timeline but i know there was some debate about it.)

the only thing we know for sure from that 20X9 date, is that this takes place 4 years after Metroids were first discovered by the federation then stolen by the Space Pirates, leading to the events in the original game.
they could easily be Retconing the old 20X7 date for Super Metroid, which came from an commercial for the game not the game itself or even it's manual, but setting it in the unclear amount of time between Super and Fusion could be really interesting, since it Means Sylux has been lying in wait for some time now and is using metroids(and/or mocktroids) while they're thought to be fully extinct. if it IS retconning the dates and this still takes place before Metroid 2 and Super Metroid like the rest of the prime games, i actually like the idea of whatever Sylux is doing here being the DIRECT reason the federation goes, "ok, those things NEED to go extinct" leading to Metroid 2. i mean, phazon kinda was the bigger problem during the other 3 prime games, but then Sylux got his hands on ONE metroid egg in federation force and now there's this whole problem.
there's also the chance of weird time shenanigans happening in the game so that could throw us ALL for a loop, but no matter what, im fairly certain the game is going to be clear in its placement in the timeline once its out; they started a trailer directly by stating a year, and the scan visor and all the lore that comes with it is back, with it they could easily slip one line in somewhere about "Metroids being thought extinct ever since Planet Zebes was destroyed" and we'll know instantly where it is in time.

The intro to this trailer felt like something out of the opening of a Ratchet and Clank game!
(Not that I'm complaining)

15:48 Those Mocktroid look like Samus' helmet and silhouette .. look closer and you'll see her shoulder armor too

Dissing Metroid Prime: Federation Force is ignoring the fact that Sylux has flipping Metroids! (Granted, the ones in the trailer appear to be Mochtroids, but who says they aren’t trying to clone a bunch of Metroids from one specimen and ended up with several failures?)
Edit: I see you acknowledged Sylux’s cameo in the secret ending of Federation Force.

maybe a cosmic calendar year is not the same length as an earth year

I 100% believe she traveled back in time to where the federation station was, possibly inhabited by the Chozo. I can’t wait to find out how wrong I am lmao

1:50 Prime: Federation Force is 100% canon! In its secret ending, Sylux broke into a Federation lab and stole a newborn Metroid, leading directly into Prime 4: Beyond!

Hype. I’m playing Prime for 1st time now. Not into shooters but the reveal after many years of hearing YouTubers say how good it is finally got me. I’m 1/3 done prime now and yeah it is good. Cool environments, exploration puzzles, and Nintendo polish/charm.

I don't see why people assume that a cosmic year is equivalent to a normal year? (365 days) could perfectly be a unit of measurement that is made up of several years
For example, a cosmic year could be 5 Earth years.

This game will BE the game of the year

The event horizon logo and unmistakably prehistoric-style scene at the end makes it pretty obvious about time, let alone the fact that it was suggested that they were playing around with the idea a while back.

the rolling tube is a reference to the comics about space pirates being obsessed with tube

Sorry, I love Other M for what it is. It's not a great metroidvanua, but it's a great action game and shows lore accurate Samus's super athlete skills in battle (dodge, counters etc), which is what inspired Samus Returns and Dread. We wouldn't have those as they are without Other M.

And yet, Sylux stole a Metroid in Federation Force, making it canon.

In the last shot just before it fades out up in the big tree there's something there like a moving light, I wonder if we'll be able to climb that tree.
