Let's get this batch of seedling orchids situated in the great outdoors so that we can maximize light for them. Hopefully growing them on to strength prior to the next challenging season of low temperatures and low light levels 😬 #bebes #orquideas #orchideen #beginners #orchideenpflege #care

I’ve just moved mine to their winter ❄️ home. We’re having under 10 degrees C at night.

Hi Nina!! 👋🏻 Overall your little ones look pretty good. One thing I've learned with orchids that with every 2 steps forward, there's always a step back just to bug you!! 🤔 Nice to see you enjoying the Sunlight, I know you've waited somewhat impatiently for it to arrive!! 😅 I've read recently that Spain is really hurting for more Rain!! Sounds like us here awhile back with needed moisture!! I also hope those fires you had up north are out and they caught the jerk that started them. Anyway, have an awesome evening and enjoy your hot chocolate. 😁

That maxima is going to bounce back and be amazing! I remember it grew lots of roots for me in bark and it's sibling is just starting this summer's flush of roots

I have tried growing LECA hardened Cats Dens but not great growth when i used LECA alone but have started doing well when i added bark and coco chips. In our conditions summer is harsh RH goes down to 10% difficult to maintain even with misting.

You know, I have a problem with a few maxima dropping their roots like that and I cannot figure it out. I have four highland type and they grow roots like crazy. I have three lowland and the roots will grow fine for a while and then the tips die. And then I have one that is a hybrid of highland and lowland and the roots act like the lowland (stop growing) but the plant is in between the two. I'm contemplating putting one of the lowlands into a heavily water retentive media to see how it reacts.
Now seedlings, because of how I grow them, I fertilize them hard (200 ppm or more) every watering because they don't have the structures to store anything significant. They get flushed when the other 'chids get flushed, which is when I think about it. In many cases I can grow them out a little faster than other people. The slowies (leopoldii and crispa), there is just no speeding those up. But I've got quite a few that are further along than I think they should be at this point. I've gotten blooms out of a very small Phal bellina 'Ponkan' and the Richard Mueller x C. labiata is ridiculous.
