I talked to a pilot after the Blue Angels show and he called the breathing technique the “hook maneuver.” The point of it is it tenses you’re body to combat the g’s pressing on your body. Really incredible stuff.

People need to chill. He's talking about the scene in the movie where they are being chased down by the enemy fighter. In order for him to act like he's being chased, they taught him this maneuver so he could turn his head in the plane while under a lot of G forces without passing out. Not once does he compare it to real combat.
