You brought to my attention many good things to check. Things that I wouldn't have even given a thought. Thanks for sharing. Nice job!!

That's were its important to get used to and learn to "read" the machine. Starting the sled at least the first time each day with the rear in the air can catch a dragging brake as well as many other issues. Spin it up a bit and get used to how much it typically coasts when the throttle is shut off. A non-drag will coast down a bit and a dragging brake with stop quickly.

Thanks for these quick and to the point tips for us newbie 'used sled' owners. No blah, blah, blah.
I might have my local powersports shop go through my 96 Touring E, and 99 Formula DLX Ski-Doo's that I bought last year. Both are 380 Rotax fan cooled. I haven't done much for them in the form of maintenence, because both seem to run well, and they're only used in our farm fields and woods. I did put new air filters in them, cleaned the engine bays of leaves and debris, and checked their chain case oil. Thanks again!

I just got a 98 formula z 500 what’s the small lever next to the brake. Hot start maybe? That’s where they are on some dirt bikes

You got a video on cleaning the master cylinder? I’ll give you a sub for that.

my 01 caught fire and I'm currently cutting out all the burned/melted wiring, new/used oil reservoir etc. I thought it was the oil reservoir, but now I'm wondering if this was the root cause that then spread to the oil ugh. Something else to check.

Yup! Had a buddy do this few years back on his Polaris Indy . He had no idea what the hell happened but I said 100% was the brake system
