Our hosts are using a local SSL cert. Will this cause an issue when upgrading from ESXi 4.0 to 5.0?

You cannot use VMware Update Manager to update the vCloud Director platform. For best practices on upgrading vCloud Director to version 5.1, see VMware KB article 2034980 ( kb.vmware.com/kb/2034980 )

Hi VMwareKB,

I have a question, vmware tools from a newly installed vsphere 5.0 doesnt include vmware vshield driver right? I downloaded a vmwaretools installer with vshield driver from the site, but I dont know how to point the installer to my esxi hosts. how can i update the my esxi hosts to install the new vmware tools i downloaded to the VMs that I will be creating. THanks!

After the upgrade will the Host's retain their settings (i.e. IP, VMFS, hostname, etc)?

Typically, "Auto Start" refers to the ability to automatically start or power on virtual machines after a ESX host is powered on.
