I can’t wait for the LAMY 2000/Jinhao update

Your lineup for August looks exciting 💃🏽. We have a lot of pens in common this month so I have lots of comments.
-Lamy 2000 vs Jinhao 80 - I have the 2000 F and Jinhao 80 with a Lamy EF inked with different inks. Both are nice but the long writing sessions separates the two by miles. My 2000 was consistent. Hands down the winner. But the Jinhao 80 feed did not keep up. Started out fine. Got paler. Eventually stopped and needed a break / priming after 1.5 pages. I pulled that nib from a Safari and the ink is my TWSBI which I use for work all the time. So I conclude, it’s the feed might need some attention.
- I have the Lamy Studio Olive with a gold EF nib inked with Monteverde Olivine and it’s glorious!!! The ink is a bit wet as well, so I am getting a wide line. This is my first time with this nib and further exploration is needed but I am well pleased. 😊
- I have a Kaigelu #6 Long Blade on a Nahvalur Chromis Teal inked with Diamine Marine. I love the line variation and it’s a nice flowy combination. I had bought 2 of these nibs on Amazon. One felt a bit scratchy and I didn’t like it. But this one was nice. Good luck tweaking that nib.
I really appreciated the comparison of nibs at the end. FC and their SIG nibs are high on my wish list and I hope to get the Esterbrook journaler nib some day.
Happy writing ✍️

I have 5 Lamy 2000 in various nib sizes and love them. I got a Jinhao 80 because I was curious and it was awful. I put a Lamy nib on it and it was ok. No comparison with the Lamy 2000 though IMHO.

Great lineup! I tested the LAMY 2000 in a store and decided that my Jinhao was a better writing experience. I haven’t looked back since!

I like the Long knife. Not too crazy about the yellow ink for readability... maybe good to use as a highliter.

I love your currently inked videos ❤. I‘ll have to try the Lavender Black ink in my Platinum SF. I am curious about your thoughts on Helianthus and Sapphron. My initial reaction to Helianthus was that I found it a little flat as I love shading inks and thought of trying the Stipula ink, but am still hesitant as I would have to get a bottle it is almost impossible to get ink samples in Europe.
You also reminded me that I wanted to try and get one of those rubberized sections for my Lamy Studio as I quite dislike metal sections and the one on the Lamy Studio feels especially slippery to me.

I appreciate that you test inks and pens on various types of paper. As a beginner with fountain pens, this is quite helpful. After watching your videos, I'm now curious about S.I.G. nibs. Can you share which of the two you prefer? From what I can tell, they have similar line widths. I'm curious if you requested the fine S.I.G. to write smoother and wetter. Thank you!

Upon receipt, I inked my Jinhao 80 with Herbin Rouge Grenat. I was completely in love and carried around my precious pen for a week, reaching for it often. I didn't notice that the feed wouldn't keep up on long writing sessions or anything untoward. One day I uncapped it and the entire remaining contents of the converter was in the cap. I cleaned it and never used it again. I have inked my Lamy 2000 three times but never reached for it because the F nib way too broad for my taste, no matter the ink combo. At the pen show in Aug 2023, Gena ground it to a perspective nib for me again. Jinhao 80 I will give away and the Lamy will get an iroshizuku ink for September and I'll give it attention.

I enjoyed your video and seeing your ink cards. I don't care for orange/yellow inks. The most orange I have is Colorverse Martian.

I have both the Lamy 2k and Jinhao 80. Originally I felt the same way you do about the former but then I took my life in my hands, removed the nib, only to find that the tines were way way way too tight. A little work, risky and potentially expensive fafo, and now it writes like the dream everybody says it is. Then, naturally, bought another in a different nib size: same thing! Tines were too tight. Now both of them are easily my smoothest and most consistent writers. I just wish I could tell hem apart. 😂
