I don't think there is a right/ wrong way to fill a pen. Personally, I prefer to syringe fill. Do what is best for you!

I usually keep the section on when I fill a pen because it saturates the feed right away. However, you have to flush a new pen before you do that. Jinhao now tests it's nibs with blue ink. If you dip the section in to fill it without first flushing it you will contaminate your bottle of ink with the Jinhao blue ink used to factory test the nib.

I have been using Fountain pens for some time and I have always taken the converter out of the pen to ink it because I get a better fill and I have never had a problem and there's always a chance of staining a light color pen if you dip the pen in the ink. There are different opinions on how to fill these pens just do what works best for you. I love the Jinhao pens they are such great pens! Thanks for sharing.

Hi! The right way to fill a pen is however YOU feel is right for YOU.

Does the towel/cloth you use get permanently stained from the ink? If not, I might copy that. I use a lot of paper towels right now.
