Finally someone who understands the basics and makes it simple! THANKYOU ! If you wanna be on a forward foot with your tax and to budget better ( especially if you are self assessed on top of full time PAYE) as soon as your p60 is produced, log on and file by end of June so you have from then till 31st Jan to pay your tax and make provisions to prevent penalties and interest charges (you can do something called a budget payment plan with the self assessment dept and do it via standing order or direct debit), these are great if you dont want a massive shock come January .
Filing online is much better and easy to follow. As soon as you submit the return you get the figures immediately. So you will know your balancing charge ( and payments on account for the next tax year if you meet the threshold ) that are becoming due in Jan/July. The sooner you file the more easier it is for you, especially if finances are tight as a sole trader and you need to prepare for following year!

Thank you so much for this video!! Super informative. If you earn less than £1000 from self-employment, do you still have to file a tax return? Just a bit confused still on that part. Thanks in advance🙂

So do you deduct 100% of the expenses or costs incurred to keep your business running?

Hey, just trying to get my head around this - thankyou for making it clear to me, one thing I still don't understand is how I evidence things that I bought online, for example I just bought a tripod on amazon, do I need to take a screengrab of it and add that to an evidence folder? actual receipts don't have to be given with your self assessment? Thanks again!
