As an over weighted(around 100kg, 178cm) 3.0 tennis player, I have been trying to develop my game to be short as possible.

But watching your game with consistent strokes makes me think about my approach again.

Thank you for your video.

Honestly not a bad 3.0. You are more consistent than most 3.0s. The main thing is footwork. That will help you not only get the ball back more but it'll produce more offensive balls or be defensive if you are on the run. You often put a lot of weight on your back foot. That makes it harder on you to put anything on your strokes. A swing should be a chain reaction of distributing weight from one end of your body to the other leading into the ball. So stepping into your ground strokes putting your weight on that front foot will help put more on your strokes and still be consistent. The reason why you struggle on service games is because you don't have offensive ground strokes to back up your serve. Your best ground stroke is on the service return when you take their pace and put it back at him. They don't give you that pace off your serve. So stepping into your ground strokes and hitting through the ball producing a more offensive ball will also help your service game.

I think your serve is better than Red Shirt's, as your racket drop is deeper. Keep working on it, and you'll have a nice weapon to contend with.

Bald spot is a consistent hitter which is an effective way to win points. Eventually, you'll want to swing your racquet faster with more of a upward top spin motion.

A few pointers for improvement.

Prepare your shots early. I noticed that particularly on your backhand you were resorting to a very weak slice as a sort of backup shot when you hadn't prepared properly. Your two-hander is much more solid and takes more time from him, the slice sits up and gives him time. Split step as he hits the ball, get into the grip for the side it is going to as it is coming towards you. You give it space, which is nice, with a bit more time on it you'll feel more confident.

You are moving back a lot. Sometimes during the shot, losing you momentum on the stroke and at times you are getting a weak ball that pulls you to nearly the service line and you are retreating to the base line again. If they hit a weaker shot then use that as an opportunity to move forward, make them play a tougher ball, then you will be forward to finish it. Always be looking to go forward with your body, during the shot and when you have chance to attack a weaker ball.

Follow through. Saw this on both sides, less of a problem on the forehand (in fact return of serve had loads). You need this for consistency so you have the same amount of topspin each time. At times the two-hander looked a bit jerky, you will get more control with more follow through though even if it feels counterintuitive think of it as a left handed forehand and try to have the same level of follow through.

Shot selection. Go cross court more often, it means you have to move less and will miss less. When you go down the line you're hitting into less court, over the highest part of the net and opening you up to a bigger counter attack. Down the line is best used for finishing a point or if you're feeling good enough to hit a winner!

Hope this helps.

Getting back into tennis and love the idea of recording. What do you recommend to mount the camera, and what camera do you have?

The guy in red has much better crosses. That was the difference.

Nice work! How did you create your scoreboard?

Move move move! Without moving and hitting harder, you can't level up! Split step, keep up your cardio, and you will move up faster.

These videos very helpful to self rate and self diagnose

Your 4.0 players seem very good compared to 4.0 players I have been on court with

These 3.0 players are still learning footwork

Must mean I am 3.5

Is 3.0 good? I just started like a month ago and I’m already better than this. Like way better.

Strategy wise, would be good if you can start to get more angles on your balls. You are aimming too much to the middle, and at your level that makes it easier for you opponent to develop his game. Try to use more cross court balls to make him run more than you, and get him tired

I had played a few events in Missouri as NTRP 3 and 3.5. My opponants played way better than here. My level are just like peoples here. So I had lost them all. Many beat me with 6:0 😅.

Just want to say, I’ve seen a lot of service actions worse than Bald Spot’s

Good job! Work on your serve. You’re giving away too many free points with double faults.
