Plant vs Animal Protein with Dr. Michael Greger

Is all protein equal? Not in the slightest, according to Dr. Michael Greger. While most push the superiority of “complete protein” that animal-based foods provide, Dr. Greger looks at the total package.

Along with protein, meat, dairy, and eggs provide cholesterol, harmful trans and saturated fats, cancer-promoting IGF-1 hormone, and other nasty elements. Plants, however, offer essential vitamins, nutrients, and healing antioxidants. What protein package would you prefer?

Great respect to Dr Greger however walking on the treadmill is very irritating.

How can you compare green leafy vegetables to Burger King meat!?? A fair argument would have been grass fed steak or chicken breast

I eat both proteins, my shakes are usually plant. My solids are usually meats.
Aside from the occasional protein bar, which is probably the worst option between all 3.

What an absolute joke Greger is. Trans fats, really? Dietary cholesterol bad for us? Really? This is like stepping back into the 20th Century and ignoring all the research about DIASS scores, availability, digestibility etc.

Hello! A question anyone know? I am vegan n eat a LOT of things like seeds/nuts lentils and track my levels on Nutri check-
I often get between 50-80g of plant protein. Does anyone know if this is too much? Even though it's plant protein?
I am also very active, love my spinning and bootcamp ha 😅
(I am 31 yr old female)

Plant proteins don't have all the proteins necessary for the body - a Chicken egg has all the proteins in its fundamental form to build a chicken. Cholesterol is fine too its needed for hormone creation, cell formation - so fundamental is Cholesterol that the body makes it from protein/fats! Trans fats are more likely seen in processed foods than natural food such as animal fats - you need to hydrogenate it and most animal fats have high temp cooking ratings compared to plant oils.

Problem with his and mcdougall's plant based diets is that most grains are too high in carbs and raise insulin- beans and legumes also tend to be high in carbs

I understand the idea, but it's annoying that he is walking while talking

Look carefully at the body composition of Dr. Greger. If you were being honest, you would say Dr. Greger is lacking "body mass" - likely skeletal muscle mass (obviously in this video we are limited to the "neck up", but you can find many images of Dr. Greger on the internet as he is seen as one of the foremost "experts" on the plant based lifestyle. However, even this "neck up" image is revealing). I am certain it would be best to ignore any nutritional advice from Dr. Greger.

This information is dangerous. Animal protein is so incredibly important.

The fact that he’s on a treadmill… immediately made me not take him serious. Feels like some passive aggressive power move. I get that people have busy lives, but this feels rude

Just hope in future interview, he is not doing crunches or push ups. :). I prefer to watch the interview while the person is steady . Lol

Maybe good information but tread milling while talking is disrespectful and not very informative as content is so distracting with all the movement. Next time the doctor is on have him sit and talk.
