Things I don't like about my X5 G05. 1) LED headlights are poor at night. 2) Seat belt height is not adjustable for a premium suv. 3) I am already on my 3rd windscreen in the first year. Things I like. 1) Much improved interior especially the comfort seats. 2) Tech is good. 3) Looks and power is tops.

The plug-in hybrid in the G05 actually runs the B58 3.0L inline six with the battery/motor... a nice upgrade from the previous generation which did use the B48 4 cylinder engine.

Tom, if you were to pick a spec - what would that be? I will want a 7 seat config but don’t want to go overboard. I do know that 25d isn’t the spec for me. Your thoughts between 30d vs 40i?

I drove an X4 diesel 4cyl recently, I thought it was a bit weak and underdone for power. I think a good rule for a test drive is if you find that you are using flat-to-the-floor throttle regularly, then you’ll never be happy with with the 6 figure price.

I forgot to mention: I do own this car and all I can say is that as the engine is more than enough, the driving pleasure is nothing to compare with.

Great review Tom - hard to justify over a CX9 or slightly used 520d estate however X5 has always been my favourite Range Rover alternative for urban use with a v8 though :) and in a real colour cheers - here’s to 50k subs soon!
