50 here. Single, no kids. It’s not that anything has gotten worse, it’s that social media has fully exposed it for what it is. Used, abused, gaslit, manipulated, unappreciated, devalued, blame shifted, broken hearted and more to the point that I just don’t care anymore.

It is 100% true that once I realized the chances of me having kids/family were basically zero, I almost *immediately* had a shift where I still work hard - but for totally different reasons.
Basically just to retire early and have a simple, peaceful life vs. increasing appeal for family. There's no need to over-achieve, and status means NOTHING if it won't help me retire sooner.

Other than still enjoying a nice car for myself, I don't need anything costly. I don't need a McMansion if it's only ever going to house one person.

Since I divorced my wife in 2014, many years later than I should have, i have noticed something.
Often married men regard me as a threat, as if i may "steal" their wife.
Women, on the other hand, seem desperate to pair me up...either with themselves or with a friend. They don't take it well when I say I'd rather stay single, at least for the present. Its as if I am obligated to take on a often her financial challenges !

As long the selfish attitude is supported by goverments and law more and more men will turn around. As a experience man who took care of his family, paid all the bills and only in return negative energy and disrespect. Divorced and lost a lot I worked for my whole life. I was making $20 an hour at a local seafood warehouse. Was only getting 20-30 hours a week and asked how I could get more. They offered me a promotion to a salaried position at $46k a year. If I worked 50 hours a week I’d make more at the hourly rate. You can’t start a family on $46k a year (in Washington state). I gave up. I have to stop wanting a family to preserve my mental health.

I live alone and people reject me pretty regularly. It's incredibly aggravating that people feel the need to take advantage of single men and abuse them. Ive had a number of problems that I won't get into on here. Guarantee they wouldn't have happened if it wasn't just me by myself.
