You are AWESOME! Just saved my life!
I dropped my usb-3.5"-harddisk. powerpin broken. disassembled it. It was not recognized anymore at first but on another computer it was okay. Only that it was "not formatted" anymore. It sounded fine and seemed to work properly. But after quick formatting it, only 2 of 4 TB were recognized.
So i did this AWESOME tutorial ... WTF. A normal eraser? I didn't use mine since my school days. Haha. So good.
After that, Windows recognized the whole 4 TB again.
I formatted it properly and am currently running a data recovery program.

I don't know how to thank you, the method you mentioned in video helped me as my last change, I was about to giving up of rework my 2004 model 3.5 IDE SAMSUNG 120GB HDD. I wanted to try it as my last chance and it looks so easy the way that everyone can use eraser but I was really shocked after erased all surfaces of logical card and pulled the usb cable to the laptop. Completely insane!! I got our family pictures, videos back which are more older than 10 years .. Your awesome!

My desktop failed to boot and setup did not show seagate harddisk. I tried to boot multiple times, once it detected (I felt the vibration when it started), but before it could boot completely, the drive stopped.

I followed this video, cleaned the connections with an eraser. I could see the connection were blackened and it came off with lot of rubbing. I put on the screws back very tight and tried, it was not detected. I again removed the screws cleaned more, this time I just tightened the screws enough (I read on the disk not to screw very tightly). This time the hard disk was detected.

It has been two weeks and the hard disk is working well. I am writing this comment from the same desktop.

This is good video. I used to do the same thing back in the 80's too for my old bbs drives.
be careful on new technology with miniature chips in the way.
