"Is that the opposite of what they say?... YES!" Truly how the world works and not how it should work.

This is exactly correct. I just got hired after a 1.5 hour Teams interview and we barely talked about skills, we talked about books, interests, hobbies and life experience. He was looking for someone who could jell with his team. He never questioned whether or not I could do the job.

Thanks. You put in 2 minutes what took me 15 years to learn in my working life. 100% accurate.

As usual, an insightful analysis of what really happens in a job interview. The "fitting in" comment is spot on; if you want the job do your homework so you understand the culture and can demonstrate you will be aligned with it!

Thank you for this honest video. As a job seeker I hate when recruiters aren't direct with their candidates sometimes. Just goes to show that all they're looking for are "cogs" for their business.

Makes a lot of sense, interpreting the REAL meaning of a "Great" fit. Thanks, The Companies Expert. Great Vid.

I took a leadership role a little bit ago and from being a team lead to management...., this is 100% accurate. I was mind blown by the different thought processes I was exposed to.

You hit the nail right on the head! I wonder why employers still have long, wordy and unrealistic job descriptions if this the case.

The bit at 1:48 is so true. I applied for an internal position at my company and before the interview i was worried about not having the skills for the role. And my manager told me " look: if they thought you were not fit for the role they wouldn't waste money in interviewing you"

I always look at employee reviews on Google or Glassdoor before an interview. Very helpful!

Good to know! I had an interview on Tuesday that I felt went pretty well, I will find out tomorrow or Monday if I get the job. I feel like I had pretty good rapport with the interviewers and they even laughed when I made a joke. Hopefully that gets me hired (even though I am well qualified to do the job itself)!
