In the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace sit two chairs fit for royalty! Watch our film to find out more about these majestic Chairs of Estate which feature in the early parts of a Coronation ceremony. Crafted in 1953, for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, both thrones got a royal makeover with new cyphers embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework for the Coronation of his Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla in 2023. Keep an eagle eye out under the seats, and you might spot an ‘E’ for Queen Elizabeth II or a ‘P’ for Prince Philip.

I heard Queen Elizabeth only sat in that chair once and I’m assuming King Charles will as well.
