1:10 The flags of Latvia and Lithuania got swapped. Luckily it’s the Baltics and not the Balkans otherwise it would have cause a WW3

I'm Estonian, and usually my country has been brutally oppressed by our neighbors for centuries. I like to see that the general public know the brutality of it.

Would like to correct, while Finland wanted neutrality, they got invaded by the Soviet and they beat them back at the cost of a few strips of lands. Then as Germany invaded Russia, Finland was like “heck yeah imma invade Russia too”.

After Germany got pushed back, Finland “suprise pikachu faced” and lost a lot of their autonomy and had to fight the German instead. In the Paris peace accord, Finland was considered to be one of Germany’s ally and had to pay reparations.

Australia did not skip the war at all. We were bombed. We lost ships and planes. We lost soldiers, sailors and airmen, civilians, nurses, women and children. Thousands of children were orphaned. How is that “skipped?”

When the coolest kids in school and the bullies fight with each other, but the rest of the class just minds their business and watch the fight.

I don't know about Saudi Arabia or Argentina, but Turkey remained neutral and was actually wanting to stay neutral all the way, but then Americans and British threatened that we wouldn't be able to take part in future organizations (NATO) if we didn't declare war on Germany, so we declared it at the end of the war but only on paper.

Ireland wasn’t entirely Neutral, it’s not as though it closed itself off from the War. U.S soldiers landed in Ireland and trained for D-Day off the coast, Ireland also provided aid to the allies. And to make matters worse, for not fully or officially joining the allies Winston Churchill threatened to start another war with Ireland if and once WW2 was over. But Eamon De Valera persuaded him to act ever so slightly rational.

Well, not only would Portugal's alignment with the Allies would conflict Spain's (neutral) alignment towards the Axis, but also because the two countries wouldn't want to be pitted against each other because they're kinda besties. I say this because if I remember correctly, when the Americas were being colonized, Portugal & Spain kinda compromised on who would colonize what.

The statement "more than 80% of the countries in the world choose a side" is a little misleading. The African countries and some Asian countries which were colonies of these European countries or the U.S did not exactly choose sides as much as they had no say in a war that was reaching their homes anyway. It is not choice if you don't even have the option to choose. The fact that the U.K, France, Belgium and Spain were themselves engaged in activities similar to Germany across the world before and during WWII is often ignored by historians when telling this story. I know it sounds like I am nit-picking but words mean something and when history is not properly framed with accurate context, important information is lost and people viewing this are lead to thinking a certain way about important events in our collective history.

Fun fact: during the war the Germans couldn't tell the difference between Britain and Ireland so us in Ireland had to put up a huge Éire (Means Ireland in English) sign to tell the Germans we were not Britain, a couple years ago the Éire sign was found.

some people have told me and others that Turkey was a bad country for joining the Germans and I just wanted to clear that we did not do it with our will. When Turkey need help most, no countries helped. Literally nobody. Except Germany. Germany helped Turkey a lot and Turkey helping Germany in the world war was like returning the favour, except it was more threatening. Turkey had no choice but to accept helping them.
