Tesla has deployed the majority of these with 6,029 Superchargers. The state's goal, set in 2018, is to install 250,000 electric vehicle chargers by 2025. Currently, California has less than half of its target, with only about 41,000 publicly available. The state anticipates needing over a million public and shared private chargers by 2030 to meet the expected rise in electric vehicle registrations. To support this, the state passed a $2.9 billion investment plan last year to improve charging infrastructure.
