I struggled quite a bit at the beginning with how to change strings with Kluson M6VLC Magnum Locking tuners which I bought as an upgrade to my Harley Benton telecaster.

So to avoid my mistakes, sweat and time loss, just watch this video first :)

Here's an affiliate link to a similar product, the one in the video seems discontinued:

You’re making it a whole lot tougher than it needs to be. 1)Run the complete string through the hole, don’t cut it.
2)Hold the string tight, and wind it up, holding tension in the string. It will lock itself in.
3)Wind to pitch, stretch the strings, return to pitch, and cut off the excess.

Same idea as the first PRS locking tuners except you don’t need to use a screw driver with them.

Thank you for the video. I've been playing guitar for years but never had vintage locking tuners. I'm a little embarrassed. 😅

these are not vinatge tuners. Vintage tuners dont have holes on the side.

I just bought a Stratocaster with these tuners, and I hate them. Whether wound with a lot of string, or cut with only a few wraps, the strings are all going out of tune.

To be fair, even the tuners that have dial locks go out of tune with a floating tremolo bar, but these are horribad.

You can't even construct a lutheir's knot with them. And unless you plug the top, the wires are more difficult than necessary to apply enough tension to keep them from flipping out.

These are not vintage. They are worst. I'm replacing the ones that were installed on my performer with true locking tuners with a hole in the middle of the post, and a dial that tightens down the post from twisting.

Without a luthier's knot, you cant stop the first and second strings from slipping, as they're not wound and don't present as much friction.
