Thousands of young Americans are taking on climate change and fighting back at those in power, whom they claim knowingly polluted the planet. Along with the pandemic and social media, the country's youth is facing a growing mental health crisis in dealing with "climate anxiety" for current and future generations.

Based on what she says this anxiety is it is just normal anxiety that everyone gets. It has nothing to do with the climate plus the world will change no matter what we do so it's pointless to say we can change it. The world has been doing this for years and will continue when we are gone.

I think I am currently experiencing this. What I didn't know was that there was a word for it. I notice every summer I get anxiety from the heat wave. I would obsessively look up the weather especially in the summer time. I also had a dream of not being able to breathe in summer heat.

Will this younger generation ever vote in the numbers that will make themselves heard.
I never missed a major election or primary since I was eligible to vote at 18. I'm in my 60s now. A lot of us older progressive voters cannot make change alone. I encounter so many of the younger voters well into their 20s that simply don't vote out of apathy or it doesn't seem cool by their generation. Maybe it's the non-gratification in sometimes losing an election in what seems to be an instant gratification culture.
My response to their disinterest in politics and not using their voice and numbers in voting is...."Well, I always vote and do my part but it really is your future or your funeral." The older generation of voters in declining but they participate in voting high numbers. The Gen Zers and Millenials is already huge and growing bigger than the dying boomers but they vote in such abyssmal numbers considering their large percentage of the population. I was also young once and was less knowledgeable about politics than I am today, but I always believed it was my responsibility as a citizen of a democracy to participate in something as basic as voting. I think the younger generation is more aware of the immediate problems than I was in my time because they are a real and present danger that generation is living right now. I wish they would make their voices known by voting more and often and light fire under these old fogie political leaders we have or get them voted out of office. No reason we should have oldsters like Biden or a lunatic Trump still running for office or a bunch of old white guys in the GQP taking away women's reproductive rights. You know why Roe vs. Wade got taken away? Because the majority of voters who believe in a woman's right to choose stopped paying attention and took those rights for granted. Hillary warned of this year's ago but here we are now dealing with the tyranny of a antic-democracy GQP minority. Good luck. This American is planning to spend the remainder of his retire ment in Italy if I can make it happen.
