Micro Lesson #9 — Copy and paste elements and styles between Webflow projects

If you're like us, you're often borrowing elements from previous projects when starting from scratch in a new project. Not only does this save time; it is scientifically proven to simultaneously reduce stress and improve muscle tone.

In this special bilingual Webflow University Micro Lesson, Grímur shows us how to copy and paste between projects in both English and Icelandic.

To copy an element (plus all its children elements), simply select the element and copy it to your clipboard using Command + C on macOS or Control + C on Windows. Open the destination project in a new tab, and simply select any element on the page to paste the copied element inside — Command + V on macOS or Control + V on Windows.

can you explain me please why I can't copy the elements from the different projects that are not in my dashboard? Every time I try it it says that my "clipboard is empty" ....

Yeah, that's great! But can you teach Webflow to NOT duplicate all animations and styles related to copied elements, please? Maybe it's against the logic, but usually, in the real life, the most common case is to copy a Container with dozens of layers and elements inside. And some of them always have interactions or complex styles. And after been copied those animations and styles are duplicated with renaming like "Style 2" or "Animation 2". It creates a mess in the styles and animations bar. And that's annoying, guys. =/ Just because of that I have to recreate elements from the scratch, one by one, instead of just copy them as you show here or even instead of just duplicate the page. Please, make Webflow smarter! 🙏 Thank you, you are awesome anyway!

Doesn't this break all interactions/animations? As in the new "pasted" lacks all interactions/animations?

I cannot open Designer in two separate tabs at the same time, always only 1 Designer, 1 Edit-only mode, so what's done in this lesson video seems impossible?
