What causes constant flashes in one eye? - Dr. Elankumaran P

I presume that you have constant flashes in the eye what we call as flashes. This means that there is a sensation of lightening that is happening inside the eye even when you keep the eyes closed. Normally this is seen in retinal problems. If there is any pull or touch in the retina patients perceive this as flashes or lightening. Usually it stays for sometime and disappears. However in some cases it stays for a longer time and it can be dangerous because it can cause retinal holes or haemorrhages, haemorrhage meaning bleeding. So if you have lightening or flashes in the eye it is always better to consult an ophthalmologist as early as possible.

After 2 retinal tear repairs I still get flashes. Just and FYI the flashes are also proven to be anxiety and stress. Mine have been consistent for 10 months and retinal specialist says all looks good. So Dr. I would suggest that the eye specialist community not scare people and understand that stress and anxiety also affects the eyes.

in the past 2 days i've been experiencing some odd stuff happening in my perspective. i sometimes see a orange flash in the corner of my left eye. yk i have severe anxiety and stuff. so whenever i see that same light. i was hyperventilating. panicking. thinking that i will go blind. i'm scared to tell my parents so.
edit: guys i'm doing fine now:') if you may ask. i have an early stage of Anemia. I changed my lifestyle now, i eat 3 times a day properly, i take my vitamins, exercise daily, and lastly sleep early. Too much screening can cause you these type of flashes my doctor said. i reduced my screen time and my eyes are back to normal. i'm glad it's nothing serious. but the day before the checkup. i was so nervous and anxious that i didn't slept at all. my heart was beating so fast and my brain keeps on telling me that if i fall asleep i'll wake up blind— all thanks to my mum to calm me down a bit before sleeping.

The flashes are very pretty. Bright white light. It’s been becoming more frequent in my day now. It’s been about a year or two. And it’s been more frequent now in my day. Before it was every now and again. Now it’s multiple times in a hour.

I see small white flashes, the size of a dot, which immediately disappear quickly. They appear quite rarely. I live in another country, and it is problematic for me to make an appointment with an ophthalmologist. My vision is –12, and yes, I should probably be worried.

I was diagnosed with acute idiopathic blind spot enlargement syndrome in my left eye back in 2021 but as of recently I have it in my right eye now and unlike my left eye I’ve been seeing flashes of white light in the corner of my right eye. It’s like someone really tiny is holding a flashlight and dragging it across my eye really fast. Also around and in my blind spot I’ve been seeing like really faint flashes of light similar to a sparkler but way les brighter

I began to experience streaks of light out of the corner of my right eye and immediately went to see the eye doctor. I went online and discovered it could be symptomatic of a detached retina which scared me to death. However, when I got checked the doctor told me that my retina was fine, it was right in place where it should be but he also told me that when people get older (I'm 64) the fluid between the retina and rest of the eye becomes dryer and loses it's cushion. Then the retina can bounce against the tissue and cause light streaks. Why it happens to some but not most they don't know. It doesn't effect my vision in any way and there are no other symptoms of anything, it's just kind of annoying. However, this started the night after I was playing basketball and got hit very hard on the head with the ball (yes, I still play at 64), that evening the light flashes started. I don't know for sure if that's why this started but it's awful coincidental. The eye doctor thought that was a good a theory as any and then told me there was no treatment, just come back if it gets any worse. That was a few weeks ago and it has stayed the same, looks like it may be with me for the rest of my life unless there is some kind of natural treatment the mainstream doctors don't know about. That's what I'm searching online for.

Hey it’s Cheech Marin. I thought it was my Bluetooth flashing and I also looked all over for a conductor but never found it. Thanks for the info. Glad it wasn’t demons or ET.

I have constant strobing white light flashes in the bottom right side of my right eye, in the peripheral. Most of the time, it's mild. But sometimes, like now, it's so bothersome, so strong, it's like I'm at a disco. Ive been to ER. They gave me prednisone. Ive been to neurologist, had full gambit MRI brain scans and was told it's a type of migraine aura. Neurologist has no answers. General practitioner referred me to eye doctor. General eye doctor says my retina in both eyes are perfect and still referred me to eye surgeon specialist for full gambit examinations. Eye surgeons all told me my eyes are 100% perfect. Seriously! 100% perfect. No retina issue or any issue of any kind. To see neurologist for brain issue. That the visual disturbance has to be in brain. Neurologist doesn't know whats wrong. Says the only thing can be an unusual type of brain aura preceding migraine. But, I don't get migraine with, during or even after these episodes of flash strobing lights. I have them 24-7. also have tinnitus. The tinnitus is stronger and absolutely shocking at the same time the lights are more profound. Wondering if there's a connection now. This really sucks. Any answers or theory's would be appreciated.

I've been experiencing lightening in my eyes for like 5 months now, but I didn't consult a doctor. Now I'm having chronic floaters that covered my entire right eye, though I've been having near sightedness in my right eye since I was 14.

What do I do now. I'm scared of losing my right eyes

Pretty sure you mean lightning, not "lightening". Right?

It is happening since yesterday but not all the time, instead in the evening or when I feel sleepy. I can see those spots like the ones you see when someone flases a light before your eyes directly and then removes it.

I’m experiencing the flashing, I’ve been sick with the flu or something an several fevers and crazy headache for the last two days and looks like tomorrow too. But I’ve noticed in my eyes an especially my left eye at random times there is what I would describe as a flickering light. Not sure, but I think it has to do with the fevers I was having?
