Welcome to my “Modern Life for the 70's Mind” YouTube Channel. My name is Bob, and on this channel I not only take a look at the songs and history that made us who we are today, but also introduce you to today's modern music as well. Any songs that combine the two are always a winner. I've always loved music and have always tried to keep a balance between the classic music I fell in love with and today's MUCH DIFFERENT sounds. Here's we'll analyze both. We’ll even take some time and revisit some of the old parts of our past that have disappeared from today’s shelves and most people’s memories. Let’s relive those moments together! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time out of your day to check in. I appreciate it more than I can say here.

The best line I have read about this version is " An incredible masterpiece of a timeless masterpiece."

The biggest testament to Home Free's quality at this point is that legendary musicians are happy to team up with them. In this case, wow, just a fantastic performance!

when you have two basses and two or three tenors, there's flexibility that is pure luxury and luxurious harmony. Adam, I guess, almost passed out trying to do almost every possible percussion!

Tim Foust (Low Dude) sang the 4th verse, he just did not go as low as he can. Tim has a 5 octave range an can sing from bass upto tenor. A Dire Straights cover of Brothers In Arms is a powerful song that shows off Tim and Adam Chance’s very low range. I highly recommend it. We are show your and mine ages because we know who Paul Lynne was.lol

I am so glad that Don McLean is a home fry or we may never have had this masterpiece. And maybe it's not faster, we are just 50 years older and our brains work 50 years slower?

50th anniversary of the song, Don McLean asked Home Free to celebrate the song with him. Don is a true Home Fry himself. ('Home Fries' is the name of Home Free's followers - we're proud to be called that)
They've performed together since 2000, 22 years on the road now (Although Adam Chance replaced the founder Chris Rupp in 2016)
The members are (Using your experience with Man of Constant Sorrow as a reference. Time stamps in this video:

06:51 : Adam Chance (Called 'Chance'), Jaw Harp in "Man of Constant Sorrow". Baritone, Bass when Tim is Leading in song.

10:31 : Austin Brown, lead/high tenor, lead singer in "Man of Constant Sorrow"

11:46 : Rob Lundquist, 2nd/harmony tenor, he did the rap/scratch effect at the end of "Man of Constant Sorrow"

13:01 : Tim Foust, Basso Profundo (Deep Bass), he did ... well, the bass in Man of Constant Sorrow, but be not fooled, his vocal range spans over 5 octaves, you will see...

Adan Rupp has no solo in this song, but you see him all the time, beatboxer, 2x world champion beat boxer, but also has a beautiful singing voice, when not beatboxin. No-monica and rythm in Man of Constant Sorrow.

If you like to hear their version of oldie goldies, they have worked with Kenny Rogers (Children, Go Where I Send Thee), Oak Ridge Boys (Elvira), Alabama (Christmas in Dixie), Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA), there are so many. Dig in, you'll love it :)

Don is 76 years old now and the song had its 50th Anniversary . Don asked Home Free to do this for the Anniversary. He still has a great voice too. They and Don also won Telly awards for this video and Don finally got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year and invited Home Free to sing as they presented the star.

One of the many, many reasons I'm such a "Home Fry" is Home Free's unselfishness when they do collaborations with other singers and groups. They take a back seat to their guests. This was recorded during the pandemic, each singer was recorded separately. Loving your reactions to our guys, can't wait to see your reactions to many more of their varied covers and originals.

If you want the total Tim Foust experience, look up the two videos he has done for his new doo-wop album, "Pieces of Me". They are "Come Go With Me" and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". Tim does ALL vocals and sounds in these. Mind-blowing.

Brother, soon I'll be 71 yrs old. I LOVE these kids! Don asked them to do this for the 50th Anniversary of the song! It's clear why!! Kenny Rogers, Oak Ridge Boys and Alabama have all done collaborations with them. I confess, I've become a Home Fry.

This was done for the 50th anniversary of the song. Don McLean knows that it is iconic in American culture, and is very careful with the song as it is also his legacy. It is quite a thing that he chose to do this at this time with Home Free. And they did a beautiful, beautiful job.

You will find the Home Fries are avid fans and happy to support the reactions to their music! Home Free has been around for something like 16 years with a couple of changes of singers. I was going to comment about your "Low Dude" singing his verse too, as his higher voice is so beautiful you wouldn't recognize it as being the same person! Others have mentioned his range too.

I really enjoy watching Home Free break people's minds! lol Enjoy the rabbit hole!

They do a duo with the Oak Ridge Boys doing Elvira.
Absolutely amazing. You can see how much fun the two different groups are having recording this song. Elvira is a must see by them.

Glad to see you back to playing Home Free again.
Another suggestion....they dropped a cover of Unchained
Home Free is MUCH more than a country vocal band.

For another iconic collaboration, check out Home Free with Lee Greenwood and the USAF band doing God Bless the USA... it's incredible. Great reaction!

Now that you've heard a little country and folk/rock from Home Free, I'd like to suggest (for even more variety) some sea shanties? Sea Shanty Medley by Home Free. For bass from Tim, try RIng of Fire and Hillbilly Bone. For heart-rending tenor, listen to When A Man Loves A Woman by Home Free and Unchained Melody (Austin Brown's youtube channel). Since you mentioned you also liked Chance's voice (first Home Free member to sing a verse in American Pie), listen to Home Free's cover of Born In The USA. Welcome to Home Free! These guys will never fail to delight and amaze you.

Yes you will need to listen several times and probably a few more times after that 😉

Welcome aboard Home Fry
