Watching this just made me quite upset and angry. Of course it's devastating to loose a loved one and I'm sorry for the family's loss, but as a young and inexperienced climber going on the most deadly expedition, particularly ignoring the Sherpa's advice to turn around, Michael would've known there was a chance he'd lay to rest on the mountain.
To try and search over 20 years later, when any chance of finding him with no known whereabouts is almost impossible, but the choice to risk the lives of so many Sherpas whilst Spencer sits questioning them from base camp - the search felt more for the purpose of the documentary than anything else.
And then to suggest to the family of the dead Sherpa that they'll bring his body back, but only as a Plan B if they don't find Michael... Spencer's family is filthy rich and can easily pay for this.
Anyway, this just highlights the courageous sherpas and even more evidence of why the Nepalese government needs to support the community rather than allowing inexperienced millionaires to risk lives for ab ego boost.

Fact Michael was an unbelievable achiever(RIP) Spencer his brother came across as a Muppet. For me it was also about the Heroic Sherpers and the local people that are so humble beyond compare. 99% of this film should have been about them excluding the reality show manakin.

I thought it was universally accepted by those who attempt to climb Everest, that should you succumb to its wrath, then that is rightfully your final resting place. Seems daft to put lives in peril for what looks like a vanity project.

Madness to risk the lives of others to find someone who knew what the risks were and has a fantastic final resting place.

What baffled me was when they found the body that had all the similarities so the boot similar suit etc they ruled it out because the wrist didn’t have the Rolex on. So what if he took the Rolex off and put it in a pocket what if it was in a bag or he didn’t wear it that day. Maybe he thought it wasn’t best decision to wear a Rolex in freezing temperatures of the summit. Surely they never ruled out that body on basis of Rolex alone. And another thing is maybe someone removed the Rolex …. Seemed odd that there was a lot of similarities then ruled out on Rolex alone

Funding and sending out an entire search team on little more than a whim, barking orders from base camp, hoping to identify the body based on a Rolex, and the final scene at their palacial estate, seem in stark contrast to the three children with no parents whose living relatives can't afford to look after them. They were faced with the same loss but a much harder situation, so I'm seriously hoping that he made a quiet donation to the struggling family and (very) fairly compensated the search team doing all the hard work whilst he was crouching in 8 different brooding positions with a walkie-talkie.

I liked how didn’t even camp like a local. He’s so out of touch he had this giant greenhouse to live in basically lol

Should have been titled: Not Finding Micheal....
Wasted 1hr 30mins of my time.

I liked the film, but I'd rather follow the Sherpas instead of the main dude who stayed at base camp. Plus it bothers me that they're not credited on imdb

Only reason he went for Michael was for that rare Rolex watch he was wearing.

I enjoyed it and have even greater respect for the Sherpas

If this happened to me I don't think it would ever cross my mind to capitalise on such a tragedy and turn this painful, personal journey into a Disney+ vlog but best of luck.

Courage cannot exist without fear and climbing Everest is completely over-intense.

Bring him back home off the mountain? I’m sorry, but what a glorious place for your body to rest. The most beautiful surrounding on the most famous mountain in the world. Beats a graveyard in Keswick or wherever he’s from..

😂 Considering the nature of this doc, it somewhat came across like a parody/mocumentary…The ridiculously futile mission. The staged dialogue and scenes… Premise: An ex reality tv star funded by his families ultra wealth puts a group of Sherpas in danger by having them aimlessly search Everest for a dead body that’s been lost for 23 years….The gesture at the end was nice but was also overlayed with what felt like awkward, disingenuous, badly edited dialogue.. Didn’t feel as selfless as it should have felt. Just seemed like an expensive way to use family trauma as a way to boost publicity and social media reach. Something felt very off and not well thought out. Disingenuous. A bit dirty. The ridiculousness of some of it had me laughing when I really shouldn’t have been….

Rip Mike! May your soul rest in peace 🙏🏽

This is an amazing team lead by Nimsdai. People should watch 14 peaks too to learn more about him and his world breaking record of mountaineering!

Wondering how much they paid him and his team?! 😊

Why is there just one photo, source unknown, and taken from a distance? Did the photographer see the body, take just one photo and then run away? Didn't think to get closer and take more photos showing more details?
If I was cynical I'd wonder if the photo was "created" to justify making the whole documentary.
