This song reminds me of being a new parent. How you can totally lose yourself in the throws of caring for a tiny human being. It can also be an isolating experience. You are never alone, but you are also lonely at times. You feel the weight of the world crashing on you to get this thing right, when you will probably get it wrong so so many times. You also know that forever will never be enough with this little companion. They give you so much purpose and that is the hopefulness and the beauty in this song. You have created something inescapably wonderful and you will choose it over and over again even when you feel you are not up to the task. They are excellent song writers, but I also think the vocal delivery of this song is what really makes me feel that it is a love song to being a new parent.

May 20, 2010. Young the giant opened for Minus the Bear at the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles. This is the same day I fell in love in love with their music, specifically cough syrup. This was the only song I ever purchased in iTunes, true story. And…The rest is history. This is just another beautiful, and well written song that I will enjoy forever.
