Yes, many of the requirements seem to put the horse before the cart... did it myself...I work in law but not immigration law...it was difficult

Very informative however, I wanted to clarify one thing I heard. If the Portuguese consulate (in Washington D.C.) approves our D7 visa, it WILL include a SEF appointment (day/time), hopefully close to our new rental address. Is that correct? Muito obrigado.

Recent update. I was just approved for D7 visa, using the NYC VFS office. You do NOT need to get a live appointment at the VFS office (it can be a mess and appointments are sometimes over a month away); instead, choose the "mail in application" tab/option on the Apply for Visa page. From the time I sent them my packet to my receiving the visa was 5 weeks. i used Fedex to ensure my Passport got back and forth securely. I have pension, rental, and some contractor income. I did NOT have an open Portuguese bank account (perhaps they did not care because I had good passive income). For residence proof, I got a 1 year lease in Lisbon on Flatio, starting on my arrival date. Flatio lets you cancel your lease with one month notice and takes credit card payment (no bank account needed). I will get a permanent place after I arrive. Hopes this helps

Hi Just come across this channel, and noticed it’s nine months old. We are about to start our process . Is their a video with more updated information? We are in the UK.
How can I contact Christina, how much do you charge ? Look forward to your reply. Regards Tom & Josie Williams

I watched this hoping it was going to be "Everything I needed to know about Portugal's D7 Visa" There are two or three spots in the video where either the guests or the host refer back to a rule or process that I'm guessing they assume everyone is familiar with. Unfortunately since I am not familiar with these references I felt completely lost. I think maybe a better title would have been "An Overview of Portugal's D7 Visa" as it assumes a certain level of familiarity. Hopefully the links will help

I just found this video and the Expats Portugal channel. It was a great one to watch with a lot of information (and humor). My wife and I are starting to look into moving to Portugal (I retire in a couple of months). We won't be ready to move for about a year still. How soon should we start to contact you and someone like EI to get started? (I have just started my language lessons.)

hi! does WHERE you live in portugal have impact (positive or negative) on your chances of acquiring the d7 visa? that is, if we plan to reside in a less populated/less desired area are we more likely to get the visa approved since the govt is looking to have more people in some areas?

What did Cristina mean in relation to finances by "please don't apply with the minimum". She didn't go on to explain.

If I get a term of responsibility from a friend in Portugal. Am I allowed to move once I find another place? If so, should it be before or after my SEF appointment?

One item that is still a bit confusing is getting a 1) NIF, 2)Opening a Bank Account, and 3) leasing an apartment while still residing in the USA. Is this something I can do on a visit Visa, return to the US, and then start the D7 process?

Can you go as a tourist and buy property and then get the D7 process. So you don’t need to rent

I just want to know if I, as a Jamaican, would have a chance with this visa. I work remotely for a US company.

My only income is US social security. Is that acceptable alone? I do not have savings.
