Pickleball Apes Pulse V vs Joola Gen 3: Paddle Showdown!

Just wrapped up a quick playtest between the Pickleball Apes Pulse V and the Joola Scorpeus Gen 3, and the results have definitely been interesting! I’ve been playing with the Pulse paddles since THURSDAY—logging 4 hours that day, 2 more on Friday, and another 4 today. These paddles are really starting to grow on me!

In the video, I dive deep into how the Pulse compares to the Gen 3—something I saw someone else mention, but I was highly skeptical. See how they stack up in terms of ball feel, control, and overall performance.

If you do decide to buy these paddles, it would really mean a lot to me if you used my code, MPB. It helps my channel.

The side by side comparison is a nice demonstration. You don’t see this with most other reviewers

Used the Pulse V for a few hours. Really liked it coming from a Mod-15. Has similar "plush" feel that you generally get these days with the foam paddles, but definitely more muted in both power/spin. It feels like it took all the good qualities of a Mod-15 and tuned down it make it easier to control. Sometimes with the Mod-15, balls fly off the face too hot and you get pop ups unless you have excellent control. The Pulse V gives more room for error. Very good paddle.

Great and short review! I totally knew what you meant with the two people standing on a trampoline analogy lol

If you watch John Kew's video today he talks about the break-in on the Pulse. He's been playing with the V for two weeks and it's heated up.

Thanks for the review. I just ordered mine and hope it is better than my current Pro Energy S.
I do like my current one but shots off the edges - away from the sweet spot, if you will - are 'dead'. I hear this one address that.
The best thing about Pickleball Apes is their 30-day return policy: It does give you the opportunity to return the item; though on my third purchase (now), I haven't done so yet.
More power to you, Matt!

Thanks for the review. I currently play with Monarch All Court. Have you tried that paddle? If so how do they compare overall? Does Pulse V have more power? Thanks!!

The Pulse V feels nice b/c it's got an insane twist weight at 7.5

With the perimeter foam on these, especially the Apes, how does it affect the sweet spot? I like this type of review since I was looking to get the Joola, now I will pass on it..

Thanks for you thoughts on the pulse V. I'm thinking about picking one up when they're released. Do you happen to know the swing weight on the V?

If it’s truly gen 3, expect it to heat up with break-in
