How to run: being consistent | 5 steps to successfully start running is a video about how to start running and sticking to it! A running schedule can be tough to maintain, but with the right steps it's doable!

It's that time again! Time to get the dust off of your running shoes and get back on the road to accomplish your running goals!

Yet, time and time again you end up quitting. It sounds harsh, but let's face the reality. You are not doing something right with your running!

Here are a few running tips that will guide you to have a SUCCESSFUL running program!

Step#1 - SET A RUNNING SCHEDULE

When you plan your runs, you're making it easier to DO your runs. You can use a bunch of running tips here, such as, finding a running plan online that'll fit your schedule.

You can make your own running schedule. Just put it onto a calendar and put it up somewhere visible. Also, you can use a lot of running applications, such as, STRAVA to stay on track. Finally, just putting in a simple reminder into your smartphone is a great way to be consistent with your running goals.

Step #2 - FIND A RACE

One of the main reasons that goals are not fulfilled is because they do not have a deadline. When you find a race, you are essentially setting a deadline and it motivates you to run.

Step #3 - MAKE YOUR PLANNED RUNS VISIBLE

Make your run times noticeable. This will make it easier to remind you that you have a running schedule to keep. For example, you can lay out your running gear a day before your run. That way, when you get back from work or wake up, you're ready to put on your gear and run out the door.

Also, set up reminders anywhere that it's visible. THE BIGGER THE BETTER! Usually, post-its on your fridge or bathroom mirror will remind you to start running and keep you consistent in your running.

Step #4 - FIND A SUPPORTIVE RUNNING GROUP

Sometimes, you hit a rough spot or you could use a bit of running advice. When you are part of a running group, you're part of a group of like-minded individuals. So, they can help you and keep you motivated to run consistently.

There are some amazing running groups on Facebook, such as, Running, Training and Motivation. Also, local running stores have some amazing running groups. Check them out to help you with your running goals.

Step #5 - TELL THE WORLD YOUR GOALS

Being accountable is tough. Especially, when you start running, but when you tell someone your running goals...now, you're accountable to them!

Trust me they will come back to ask you if you have achieved your goals. It will motivate you to put on your running shoes and start running! So, tell your family and friends your running goals. It'll give you the fuel you need to get out and run.

Bonus Running Tip - KNOW YOUR WHY

The previous running tips are actionable steps, but you need a reason to motivate you to repeatedly go run. That reason is your WHY!

Why are you running? Why do you want to stay healthy?

When you know the answer to these questions, you will have unlimited motivation to keep running, and you won't have to worry about how to run or how to start running because you will still be running and achieving your goals!!

Knock it out champ and keep on running!
