Watch this fillet glove review to avoid getting a nasty cut from a sharp fillet fish knife. The best fillet knives for fish are sharp, and I show how this fillet glove fails in this cut proof glove test and not a cut resistant glove as well as discuss my fish cleaning and cutting setup that includes a fish cleaning table. Fish fillet knives have to be sharp and to wear cut-resistant gloves is a critical safety feature!

The Kayak Hacks Fishing channel covers kayak, wading, shoreline, spin and fly fishing. It features gear mods to make kayak fishing more comfortable, efficient and enjoyable. Also, I share many tips, tricks and "how to's" for both spin and fly fishing regardless of whether you are fishing from a boat or on your feet. Please subscribe! Thanks!

The good old Rapala glove still works for me, too. I do toss them in the washing machine when they get too stinky.

On the test gloves you cut the palm and back hand side but on you're tried and true gloves you only cut the wrist portion which typically would be thicker. Do the old BPS gloves hold up under the same test that the other gloves that failed?
Still my favorite Youtube destination. Keep up the great work.

Hey, just wanted to confirm as the comments seem to suggest, the good gloves that you’ve had for years are the Rapala fillet gloves? Did you find any different gloves that actually protect? Thanks!

That's an A5 rated glove. A5 is for sheet metal handling. For knifes, you need A8 or A9. I would bet your old trusty glove is an A8 or better.

I have been using the same glove as the one you got from BPS. Been using it for 20+ years. They definitely work at preventing cuts. However, the sharp point of a filet knife can still stab you through the mesh of the glove if you're not careful.

Love the channel, but that sharpener isn’t a true sharpener, they just give the blade a sort of micro serrated edge.

Ouch. Maybe send a link to this video to the company that makes the failed gloves, even though they probably know they're junk.

I love Capt. Vince...hope he’s doing well, he hasn’t put any videos out for a long time. Also, thanks for the review on a bad product.

that sharpener is bad for your knives. it sharpens by removing metal from the knives. have you tried a two sided shapening stone or honing rod? honing rods make a knife so sharp, your gloves jusy might cut open...

Wish you did this video last year. Got the failed glove for opening oysters. Stupid mistake on my part.
