Catfish, Pike, Walleye, don’t matter. 9/10 times, they hook PERFECTLY in the corner of the mouth. And setting the hook is as simple as a smooth lift of the pole.

I don’t know all the science behind them, but I can tell you, they work.

I’ve never lost a fish with them that fought its way off the hook. The only time I’ve lost fish, is when I get too aggressive reeling, and broke my line or leader. And that rarely happens anymore, as I now take my time, tune my drag, and work them up smoothly and controlled, letting the fish exhaust themselves.

Long story short, going to circle hooks from j hooks, has COMPLETELY transformed my results for the better.

Last time I went out, I limited on Northerns, 5 sets, 5 fish, the biggest of which, was 36”. All perfectly set in the corner of the mouth, all on 10 lbs test.
