Your conspiracy theory has got it all wrong from the start. Late Sam Basil was taken to Bulolo Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He never died at Angau. Secondly Basil was the kind of person who always trusted his own driving. Had he allowed one of his CPOs to drive on that fateful day, he would still with us today. Sam or his District staff broke all the rules regarding protocol on safety by allowing SB to drive himself. One has to question why there was no police escort ahead of him. After all he was the deputy Prime Minister. His conveyance to and from the villages should been under full police escort and conducted in daylight hours. A full police escort would have stopped the careless drunk driver in the other cruiser. Thirdly if there was a failure to conduct a proper forensic inquiry, they should have started with the manufacturer of the vehicle late SB was driving. Was the model a latest one fitted with safety airbags? If yes, why did the airbags not deploy on impact? Was everyone wearing seatbelts in that car? These safety features would have at least mitigated the force of the impact. I noticed that a day after the accident, SB's vehicle tyres were removed. Who removed this crucial pieces of evidence and why? Lastly as a friend of SB I too felt a great sense of loss when SB passed on. To this day I still think about what might have been the changes SB might have brought to our country if he was still with us. Long live the memory of SB. I will always remember our trip to Garaina in 2009 and the football game where you left me with two goals 😢 goalkeeper Lofty.

One day the case will be re-opened, and will look into the timing and date of travel, the protocol, as the DPM that time surprisingly there were no other vehicle escorts, and why he had to travel alone? There could some other hidden motives surrounding this case who knows.
