MYTH PLANET NINE: The Hunt for a Phantom in our Solar System | SpaceTime - WELT Documentary

Science now knows a lot about the solar system. But our stellar neighborhood is still full of mysteries. For example, at the very edge of our solar system, there are some of these celestial bodies that describe strange orbits. Some astronomers suspect a mysterious object to explain the puzzling observations at the edge of our solar system: A ninth planet. "Spacetime" takes a look at the outermost solar system in search of the unknown planet.

Pluto is the 9th planet.
1. Pluto is large enough to have a nearly round shape.
2. Pluto has a distinct orbit around the Sun.
3. Pluto has its own moons, Charon and Styx.
4. Pluto is part of the Kuiper Belt, which is a collection of icy objects beyond the orbit of Neptune.
5. Pluto has a unique composition of ice and rock.
6. Pluto is believed to have been formed at the same time as the other planets in the Solar System.
Much love!

Looking for planet 9 is like looking for a black needle, in a) black haystack with b) black touch light. c) in the middle of the night. Easy right.

29:28 30:08 Judging from the scale, if you could find Sedna, it's a matter of time before it's eventually being discovered, unless the model is wrong, which is unlikely. 32:17 Given such large object can orbit 15 times the distance of Pluto-to-Sun, it's possible that an object of similar size could orbit in our solar system. Hope there is breakthrough with JWST. Great documentary.

5:48 It should be the year "1781" not 1881.

Wow, I have a proposal that could explain these anomalies and it doesn't require a planet X. Why would you first say the Kiper belt only has millions of rocks and then say there's a huge ass planet 6 or more times the size of the Earth in basically a dead area of the solar system? I believe, the reason Pluto did not clear the mess around it is simple, the outer concentric circle around the sun is so low, all you would get is a very minor warped space-time. That's why Pluto can't, and never will clear its junk. I mean, if the planets are going around the sun, why in the world is it hard to imagine that on the outer circles of the solar system, the space has very little effects from the sun and therefore cause wobbling of the outer planets anyhow. Also, I believe that Pluto is providing more gravitational force than scientist realize. Just like those pictures we saw of Pluto, it was very planet-ized and not some rock looking thing that everyone thought would be the case. I think demoting Pluto for the reason it was demoted was a miscalculation of the obvious, ALL outer solar system planets, will wobble and probably even wander in its orbit. I don't believe there's a planet 9 or X. Planet 9 was actually Pluto and yes, it won't clear its yard of debris but only due to the fact that the gravitational influence is minor, but the planet motions will develop space-time warping during the times when planets are in alignment OR near each other.

I don't think Planet 9 is a phantom at all. I think it's quite real. The problem is that it's out on the farthest point of its orbit and moving so slowly that stars in the galaxy beyond are moving across our sky faster than it is. So, I think it's out there, but it isn't going to be found unless we accidentally run into it.

20:20 Being so far from the Sun, they would be moving "slower." If going in the same general direction, there would be glancing blows that would rumble the rubble in the outer layers and much debris might not escape velocity. Pile up again?

I like Pluto! Yet the planet definition makes good sense!

The ancients and some different tribes say there are 12 planets. In 1960s we were taught there are 9.
I agree with ancients.🤔

Pluto (to me & many others) is still Planet No 9 so you're after Planet No 10, thanks for sharing this interesting Video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you WELT Documentary for sharing! Long time ago there was another planet in our solar system between Mars and Jupiter on which (giant) humans lived. They too invented nuclear power, but in a war they misused that nuclear power and the planet was destroyed. Only the four moons of that planet survived the destruction. The asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter is the visible remaining part of that destruction. The name of that planet was Mallona, Mallona means 'broken planet'. To the old Greeks Mallona was known as Phaeton. In the books of Jakob Lorber and Leopold Engel you can find more information about that.

Error at 5:45 Herschel discovered Uranus in 1781, not 1891 🙂

Couldn't the disturbed orbits of KBOs also be explained by a rogue planet passing through the outer solar system?

Actually planet 9 is most likely to be there we just haven't seen it yet. And btw planet 9 is so far that i would be very dim it might not even reflect any sunlight. And ort cloud is still just a theory.

There are gaps in the ring of Saturn where there are moons. Between Kepler and Oort, there is a large gap. Remembering an old quote from a science fiction story, is there one there?
"Between Mars and Jupiter, I shall put a planet."
