Shoei GT Air Exposure helmet comes a free little bottle of silicone oil. The guide says you should oil the rubber gasket around the seal of the visor. This is to stop it drying out and splitting. Apparently you should lube it regularly you only need a tiny smear on your finger. Here i show you how i applied mine with a cotton bud.

The oil serves a second purpose. It allows you to check or adjust the sealing of the faceshield against the gasket seal. When adjusting the base plates for the visor, silicon oil is smeared thinly around the gasket.
Install the faceshield. Lightly close the shield fully. The oil should come in contact evenly with the shield all the way around the gasket. If it does not, then you adjust the base plates until you achieve an even contact of the oil between the seal and shield. Clean off the oil and retry and adjust again, if needed, to get even pressure around the edge. You will turn the adjusters until smear is even around visor edge. This gives you a perfect seal and stops any whistling.

You must have a very different guide than mine. The manual that came with my helmet says to lubricate the moving mechanical parts of the helmet, not the gasket.

Why on the Shoei Glamster does it say to only put the oil around top and sides but not the bottom??

Is it necessary to reapply the silicone oils after a while? Say once per 3-6 months?

It's pure silicone oil? What does it's label read

I'm asking because I'm considering buying silicone oil for my vehicle maintenance.

Just to protect rubber and plastic

Let me know

My visor gasket ripped next to where there is a small tab to open the viser, is there any way to replace it? Hurts to throw away my x-twelve because of a ripped gasket, a lot of air is coming through that opening and its really annoying. :(

I think you need to practice adjusting, removing and fitting a visor before you worry about silicone
