Just curious but why did you disregard tip 2 on the rest of the examples?

I like how this kind of videos are only useful for the info you can gather from the comments rather than the video itself.

First of all the reason you get uneven bead is you’re using the cheapest caulk gun you can buy. Secondly only putting down dotted lines to make a smooth bead is wrong because when you do that you create air bubbles which will make the silicone fail faster. How do I know? I’m a professional caulker with 30+ years experience. I’ve waterproofed the outside of high rise buildings that are still sealed after 20 years.

I’ve been putting tape on the end for 30 years in the Autobody shop... only give it a pump and fill the tape with silicon, Winshield urethane, seam sealer etc

Apart from your videos being useful, you present the videos in natural tone, without any disturbing music, which is great and beautiful, and thanks for that!

Doesn't matter which method you apply caulk as long as it works for you. The reason is that there are many variables, but the main one is level of control of the pumping hand as the rate of caulk flow is key.

Always apply right to left except when caulking sink faucet. Helpful.

I work in the aircraft industry and the 2nd way is how we get taught to seal fuel tanks, fuselages etc as it fills the potential void areas better. I'm inclined to agree the 2nd way is better.

I've never applied silicon and can't imagine I will any time soon but I still have this knowledge now and that's something.

Very handy tips, I'm sure to try a few of them on my next project.

Pushing the caulk gun tip forward is generally a terrible idea, but caulking two perfectly smooth solid slabs without any joint is the most controlled scenario and it turned out alright. I'll definitely try it next time! However it doesn't help for most real world applications. Cutting the tip properly and coordinating the movement of the gun with the flow of caulk is the best way to ensure a good product. Nice video

Seems to really help when you turn the blade down into the surface rather that parallel to it when scraping caulk.

I use silicone and caulk basically every day and i cant say these arent good techniques but using a newer caulk gun would also help and with the lighter it would help people to see more than only the side view of what you were showing them a huge part of all this work is the size of the exit hole personally i dont always have the time to do little spurts i have to be able to seal up every edge in a room in about 15-20 minutes but for something small that would come in handy or something that isnt being rushed. Im not saying amy of these are bad tips and the last ones i use myself gotta plug the caulk and hooks are my go to or screws but over all i do like this video just need a little more for people who are watching this for home use
